A high-stakes World Series game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays took a wild turn when a fan ran onto the field waving an American flag — and was met with a chorus of boos from the Canadian crowd.

The unexpected scene unfolded during the sixth inning at Toronto’s Rogers Centre as Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto warmed up. The man, wearing a blue shirt and clutching the flag, sprinted across center field before security quickly intercepted him. Video shared on social media shows one officer tearing the flag from his hands moments before the fan was tackled to the ground.

Spectators erupted — but not in support. Loud boos echoed through the stadium, underscoring the tense U.S.-Canada rivalry that’s defined this World Series matchup. The intruder was swiftly arrested by uniformed officers as play came to a brief halt.

After the game, Yamamoto — who has won three MVP titles in Japan — downplayed the bizarre interruption. “That’s a rare case,” he said through an interpreter. “I didn’t like it, but I stayed composed.”

Despite the distraction, the Dodgers pulled off a crucial win to force a do-or-die Game 7. The championship showdown will air Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, with fans from both sides of the border ready for fireworks — hopefully just the baseball kind.
