A stark contrast in reception defined the atmosphere at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Monday as President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

The jubilant cheers for the former president were only matched by the resounding boos aimed at outgoing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The crowd, dominated by Trump’s loyal supporters, erupted into chants of “U-S-A!” as the president-elect entered the room. “We’re taking our country back,” one attendee exclaimed, waving a miniature American flag. The atmosphere was electric, with supporters describing the day as a “restoration of true leadership.”

By contrast, the introduction of Biden and Harris prompted audible jeers. Both leaders maintained their composure, acknowledging attendees with polite nods but refraining from direct interaction.

“This is exactly how the American people feel,” said Mark Anderson, a retired Marine from Texas. “We’ve had four years of chaos under Biden, and today marks the end of that chapter.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also faced a cold reception, with boos echoing as his name was announced. Like Biden and Harris, Jeffries showed no visible reaction. A senior aide to the minority leader later described the incident as “a symptom of the deep divisions within our country.”

Some attendees saw the event as an opportunity to showcase their dissatisfaction with Democratic policies. “The last administration forgot about regular Americans,” said Sarah Hill, a small business owner from Ohio. “This reaction is years of frustration finally coming to light.”

As Trump took the oath of office, the crowd erupted in applause and thunderous cheers. In his inaugural address, he vowed to “restore American greatness,” calling for unity under a conservative vision of the future. “Today, we start anew,” Trump declared. “We will make America proud, strong, and free once again.”

Many attendees, including longtime supporters, expressed optimism for the future. “It’s about bringing back common sense,” said Tom Reynolds, a retired factory worker from Pennsylvania. “Trump is the leader we need right now.”

Monday’s inauguration was as much a reflection of Trump’s enduring influence as it was a reminder of the country’s political polarization. For many older conservatives, the day marked a hopeful turn. Yet, the events also underscored the challenges ahead in bridging a deeply divided nation.

As the crowd dispersed, the chants of “Trump 2024!” lingered in the air, signaling the start of a new chapter in American politics.

  1. The classless NAZIS are now taking power. The ERA of the Morons have begun as well as the winter of our discontent

  2. That’s a blatant lie! False news I watched it all before they even got into the room. Biden never booed him He was polite and curtious.

  3. While welcoming the new President Trump,
I disapprove booing at Biden and Kamala Harris.

    David.

  4. Very disrespectful people. At least Biden and Kamala showed up at the Inauguration. Trump disappeared at Biden’s Inauguration

  5. I was watching the inauguration on tv and the male spokesperson was all fake! He was for Biden and literally lied about what President Trump just saying “but, but, but” the fake news is still there! Don’t believe any of the negative or derogatory criticism they report about President Trump! Wish there was some way we, the people could elect someone honest, trustworthy and competent that would speak facts about news and speak truthfully about our, the People’s newly voted-in President! I wish we could vote for our representatives in the news media but they are not trustworthy ! I simply boycott news stations now. Nothing they say will be honest or truthful when it comes to the President! We, the people, voted for him! The media should respect our choice and respect our President!

  6. After years of being called deplorables, racists, facists, and Nazis what should they expect. They have always thought of themselves as better than the normal everyday working Americans. Someone needs to put them back in their place. They are no better than anyone else and it’s time they recognize that fact.
