A Sunday night celebration turned into a nightmare when gunfire erupted at a Glendale, Arizona steakhouse, leaving three people dead and several others wounded.

The shooting broke out around 7:45 p.m. on May 4 at El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse, a popular restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and seafood-meets-steak menu. According to Fox 10, multiple people were shot during what was reportedly a Cinco de Mayo party.

At least nine people were injured in the attack, Glendale Police confirmed. “The number is closer to 9 now,” said Officer Moroni Mendez. “I can’t confirm whether that is the actual number, but it is more than three.”

NBC News reported that multiple shooters may have been involved, but no arrests have been made so far. Police say several individuals are currently detained and being questioned, but their roles—whether as suspects, witnesses, or victims—are still unclear.

Despite the apparent involvement of more than one shooter, police are reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat. “There are no apprehensions at the moment,” Mendez said. “There are quite a few people detained, and we’re trying to investigate whether they’re suspects, victims, witnesses, investigative leads.”

Investigators are also looking into whether the incident was a clash between two rival groups. “Whether they know each other, whether they’re related, whether they’re allies or opponents—we don’t know yet,” Mendez added.

The restaurant was reportedly hosting a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo celebration at the time of the shooting, with children and adults alike enjoying the festivities. A witness told Phoenix’s NBC affiliate KPNX that he had just exited the building when he heard over 20 gunshots ring out in rapid succession, followed by another burst of 10 shots after a short pause.

His vehicle was struck by stray bullets, and he jumped into action, trying to help the wounded. “Emergency responders were doing pretty heavy-duty chest compressions,” he said.

As of now, the names of the deceased have not been released, as authorities are still working to notify next of kin.

This developing story has left the Glendale community shaken, as police continue their investigation into what was supposed to be a night of celebration turned deadly.

  1. So, the police don’t know how many shooters were involved, they don’t know who they were or why the shooting started, and yet they assured the public that there was no danger. I’m not buying that story at all. If the shooters are still at large, and no one knows who their next targets might be, there is serious potential danger in spite of the police assurances.
