As their historic 10-day tour of Australia and Samoa drew to a close, King Charles and Queen Camilla received an unforgettable send-off. The royal couple ended their journey with a deeply moving farewell at a traditional Ava ceremony in the Samoan village of Siumu.

“We shall take away with us, I promise you, very special memories of our time here,” King Charles told the crowd. “We thank you for our wonderful gifts.”

The Ava ceremony marked a heartfelt close to what the Daily Mail hailed as one of the most successful royal tours in recent history. The King, who received the honorary Samoan title of To’aiga-o-Tumua, appeared genuinely moved by the warmth of the people.

“I shall always remain devoted to this part of the world,” he shared, “and hope that I survive long enough to come back again and see you.”

The King and Queen’s visit holds profound significance, especially for King Charles, who revealed his cancer diagnosis in February. Reports indicate that he is responding well to treatment, and despite his ongoing care, he chose to undertake this journey with his wife by his side and two doctors in attendance.

According to GB News, the King expressed admiration for the Samoan people’s hospitality: “We’ve been so impressed by the beautiful way in which all the villages have decorated the roadsides—it is something very special about Samoa.”

The royal tour saw poignant moments between the people and the royals. Siumu’s village chief reminded Charles of his family’s history with the region, saying, “Your papa Prince Philip was here, so were your brothers. So thank you for making the time. Your royal visit has lifted our house.”

Despite challenging times, Queen Camilla has remained an unwavering support for the King. The Daily Mail reports that she has encouraged him to relax by diving into a “great” new book, helping him to stay grounded.

According to palace insiders, the King and Queen have grown closer than ever through these shared experiences, with Queen Camilla helping keep things “real” for him. Courtiers now describe the pair as a “remarkable unit,” deeply connected both personally and in their royal duties.

For Buckingham Palace, this tour has proven to be an undeniable success and a significant boost to the King’s reign.
