September 1998: The Meeting of Donald and Melania Trump
Melania Trump, born in Slovenia, moved to New York City in 1996 to pursue a successful modeling career. It was during New York’s Fashion Week in September 1998 that she met Donald Trump at a party hosted by Paolo Zampolli at the Kit Kat Club. At the time, Donald had recently separated from his second wife, Marla Maples.
Though Donald asked for Melania’s number, the then-28-year-old model had her own plans. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Melania recalled, “I told him, ‘I’m not giving you my number. You give me yours, and I will call you.’” Her cautious approach to Donald’s interest paid off, and the two began dating shortly afterward.
January 2000: A Brief Split
In January 2000, rumors of a split began to circulate, which Donald confirmed in an interview with The New York Times. Speaking highly of Melania, Donald said, “Melania is an amazing, terrific woman, and she will be missed.” However, the couple soon reconciled, giving their relationship a second chance.
April 2004: The Proposal
After navigating several ups and downs, Donald proposed to Melania in April 2004 at the Met Gala. He sealed the proposal with a stunning 15-carat diamond engagement ring. Reflecting on the proposal, Melania said, “It was a great surprise. We are very happy together.”
January 2005: Wedding Bells in Palm Beach
In January 2005, Donald and Melania were married in a lavish ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a grand reception at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Appearing together on Larry King Live, Melania reminisced, “We had great chemistry and energy from the start.” Donald added, “We just have a really good relationship.”
March 2006: Welcoming Barron Trump
Their family expanded in March 2006 when Melania gave birth to their son, Barron William Trump.
June 2015: Donald Announces His Presidential Bid
On June 16, 2015, Donald Trump formally announced his candidacy for President of the United States, pledging to restore the American dream and promising, “We will make America great again.”
January 2018: Stormy Daniels Scandal
In January 2018, the media reported Donald’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. The incident reportedly occurred in July 2006, shortly after Barron’s birth. News broke that Donald had arranged a $130,000 hush money payment before the 2016 election, a move that would later lead to his indictment on 34 counts of felony business fraud.
January 2021: Moving to Mar-a-Lago
Following Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory, Donald and Melania relocated to their Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Melania has since kept a low profile, yet she remains a supportive figure in Donald’s life. Speaking to Breitbart News, she stated, “His achievements during his administration had a great effect on all of us, and he can lead us toward success and prosperity again.”
April 2023: Melania Skips Donald’s Arraignment
When Donald was indicted on felony charges related to the hush money trial in 2023, Melania was notably absent from his arraignment. Despite reports of her anger over the Stormy Daniels scandal, sources close to the family confirmed that Melania remains supportive of Donald and continues to prioritize her family.
2022–2024: Limited Public Appearances
In recent years, Melania has made only a handful of appearances alongside Donald, even as he continues his political endeavors. Between 2022 and 2024, she attended fewer than 20 events, including the Republican National Convention, but her loyalty to her husband and her family has never wavered.
