Melania Trump is planning to rewrite the role of First Lady, focusing on family first.

During Donald Trump’s anticipated second term, Melania will split her time between New York, Florida, and Washington, D.C., prioritizing her son, Barron, over formal White House duties.

Her schedule has one primary goal: being a hands-on mother, and her stance couldn’t be clearer. “Melania will be the First Lady, but only on her terms,” an insider from Mar-a-Lago told The Post. “She’ll be at the big events but won’t be hosting teas or doing many interviews.”

Melania has always preferred to keep a low profile compared to past First Ladies. In her first term, her rare public appearances sparked curiosity—and criticism—about her priorities. This time around, she’s doubling down on what matters to her.

While Barron, 18, starts his college journey at New York University, she’s staying closely connected to his life. The Trump family keeps a residence at Trump Tower, and that’s where Barron has chosen to stay. “I respect his decision,” Melania told Fox News in September, adding that she’s thrilled he’s living his college life in a place familiar to him.

For Trump supporters, Melania’s approach is refreshing in an era where political wives are expected to fit a certain mold. Unlike Hillary Clinton or even Laura Bush, Melania is staying outside the political fray, sticking firmly to her values as a mother and wife. Her reluctance to take on more ceremonial roles may sound unconventional, but her supporters see it as strength, not negligence. “This time is different,” she said. “I have much more experience and knowledge now.”

Compared to First Ladies like Nancy Reagan, who dedicated herself to anti-drug campaigns in the ’80s, or even Jacqueline Kennedy, who led extensive White House restorations, Melania is making a statement by defining her own version of the role.

The former model’s unique position as the only First Lady to have previously lived abroad also adds an international, cosmopolitan touch, setting her apart from predecessors.

This second term, for Melania, isn’t about playing politics. It’s about loyalty to her family, making it clear she’ll take the role of First Lady on her own terms. And with Donald Trump’s America-first agenda, her choice to focus on family aligns with the values many Americans hold dear.

  1. I hope she decorates the White House for Christmas. I
Loved her Christmas themes. She has so much class unlike the other two.

    1. I am a firm believer in family. The needs and love for your family should be first. That said, her son is 18 and in college. It is his time to become an independent man. Her job is basically fulfilled. With all of his security he is safer than most young college students, it’s now time for Barron to grow and make his mistakes. I feel the First Lady has a responsibility to the country that gave her an opportunity. She can address an issue that is important to her. In Melania’s case I would think the field of family values would suit her. There are many families that need support and help. I’m sure she could do a lot of good in anything she chooses. Perhaps trying to relate to the average American would allow her to recognize the many areas she could make a difference. I understand that she hasn’t always been wealthy.
