Senator Ted Cruz isn’t buying Meghan Markle’s claim that she’s been the “most trolled person in the world” — and he didn’t hesitate to throw another name into the spotlight instead.
The Texas Republican brushed off the duchess’s headline-grabbing comment and pointed straight at Donald Trump, arguing that no one has taken more hits online over the past decade than the current commander-in-chief. Speaking candidly when approached by a TMZ cameraman, Cruz scoffed at Markle’s claim and said Trump has been the real lightning rod for nonstop social media attacks — through campaigns, presidencies, and everything in between.
“Oh, I don’t know about that,” Cruz said, before doubling down: Trump is “probably” the most trolled person alive.
Unlike many public figures who bristle at online criticism, Cruz made it clear he takes a lighter approach. He admitted that some of the trolling aimed at Trump is deserved, some isn’t — but either way, it comes with the territory. And when it’s funny? He laughs.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle made her controversial claim during a visit to a mental health charity event in Australia, where she opened up about years of online abuse.
“For 10 years, every day, I have been bullied and attacked,” Markle said. “I was the most trolled person in the entire world… and I’m still here.”
Her comments quickly ignited backlash — and now Cruz’s blunt response is only adding fuel to the fire.
Trump, for his part, hasn’t exactly stayed silent when it comes to Markle. Over the years, he’s taken multiple public swipes at her, even calling her “terrible” in a 2025 remark while addressing questions about Prince Harry’s visa status. In earlier comments, he also labeled Harry as being overly influenced by his wife, making it clear he’s no fan of the couple.
Despite Markle’s ongoing public presence, Prince Harry has taken the opposite route — avoiding social media altogether while warning about its damaging effects. He’s previously linked online platforms to rising loneliness and has spoken openly about his own struggles, revealing he only turned to therapy after hitting rock bottom.
But in the battle over who really wears the crown of “most trolled,” Cruz has made his stance crystal clear — and it’s not going to Markle.
