Donald Trump is turning up the heat on royal drama once again—this time taking a sharp jab at Meghan Markle while praising Kate Middleton as “brave” and “perfect” in a headline-grabbing Oval Office chat.
According to royal author Robert Hardman, the 79-year-old president didn’t hold back when the conversation drifted from his meeting with King Charles III to the rest of the royal family—and especially the ongoing saga surrounding Prince Harry and his California-based life.
Trump reportedly praised the King as “a great guy” and spoke glowingly about Prince William, calling him “a great guy” who will make a strong future monarch. But the tone shifted fast when Harry’s name came up.
“So can Harry make a comeback?” Trump asked, before being told that a royal return is highly unlikely.
That’s when the gloves came off.
“That wife of his,” Trump said bluntly. “Boy, what she’s done to that guy.”
The remark is just the latest in a long-running feud between Trump and Meghan, one that has stretched back years and only intensified after Harry stepped away from royal duties.
While Meghan took the hit, Kate got the royal treatment. Trump reportedly gushed over the Princess of Wales, praising her composure during her recent health struggles and the public scrutiny that followed.
“How’s she doing? She’s so great,” he said. “People said crazy things about her and she was so brave.”
The president even suggested Meghan may have been overshadowed within the royal hierarchy, hinting that Kate’s popularity played a role.
“I guess she got blocked out by William’s wife,” he said.
But Trump didn’t stop there. During a recent visit from King Charles, he allegedly joked about Harry’s American life, quipping to the monarch: “Can you take him back?”
The comment underscores just how icy things have become between Trump and the Duke of Sussex, who now lives in California with Meghan and their children.
The tension has spilled into public remarks on both sides. Trump recently brushed off comments Harry made about global conflicts, saying the prince “doesn’t speak for the U.K.” anymore.
“I think I am speaking for the U.K. more than Prince Harry,” Trump added.
Meanwhile, Harry has taken his own subtle shots. During a 2025 appearance on The Late Show, he joked about America’s fascination with royalty, telling host Stephen Colbert: “I heard you elected a king.”
Trump, for his part, has made it clear where he stands—and it’s not with Meghan.
He previously said he would not deport Harry despite his immigration status, but couldn’t resist one last dig: “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
With tensions still simmering and no royal reunion in sight, one thing is clear—this transatlantic feud is far from over.
