Country music legend Dolly Parton is facing a wave of concern after insiders claimed the beloved star has been “putting on a brave face” to hide her declining health — even as she insists, “I ain’t got time to get old!”
The 79-year-old icon, who turns 80 in January, has reportedly been battling serious “health challenges” this fall, leading to a string of canceled appearances from Las Vegas to Tennessee. The singer accepted her Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and Dollywood Hall of Fame induction via video, telling fans her doctors had ordered her to “take it easy for a little while.”
But behind the scenes, friends say the picture is far more concerning. “She wanted everyone to believe she was powering through,” one close associate said. “But those of us nearby could see she was struggling. Dolly hates worrying people, but she hasn’t been herself.”
Alarm bells rang louder when Dolly’s younger sister, Freida, took to Facebook in early October asking fans to pray for her famous sibling. “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” she wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.”
Freida later insisted her message wasn’t meant to suggest Dolly was gravely ill — but insiders claim the plea reflected real fear within the family. “This could be it for her,” one source admitted. “Many in her circle think she’s at death’s door.”
Still, the “Jolene” singer has brushed off rumors with trademark pluck. In a recent Instagram video, she smiled through an ad shoot, asking fans, “Do I look sick to you?” She assured them she was “okay,” though sources say her health struggles have been mounting since the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, in March.
“She poured everything into caring for Carl,” said a family insider. “After he passed, her own health took a back seat. That’s catching up with her now… badly.”
Parton, known for her relentless work ethic, admitted she’s finally learning to slow down. “I have just been going so fast my whole life,” she told a recent interviewer. “How in the world did I even have a life?”
Even so, she’s not ready to fade away quietly. “People say, ‘You’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, so what?” she laughed. “I say, ‘I ain’t got time to get old!’”
Fans across the world are now holding their breath — hoping the woman who built Dollywood, lifted generations with her voice, and refused to stop shining still has more songs left to sing.
