Fox News Radio host and conservative commentator Guy Benson, 40, has revealed he was recently diagnosed with an invasive melanoma — a serious form of skin cancer — that doctors fortunately caught early.

The political editor and Fox News contributor shared the news on The Guy Benson Show Thursday, telling listeners that a routine dermatologist visit may have saved his life.

“It’s been cut out of me, I’ve been sewn back up, the cancer is gone, I’m told. That’s great,” Benson said, sounding relieved. “It was invasive melanoma — bad news — but still relatively good news because of how early it was.”

Benson, who also writes for the conservative outlet Townhall, said his doctors have confirmed he won’t need further treatment. “I’m grateful to God, grateful to the doctor and everyone else,” he added. “Now this is my new reality… I’m a cancer survivor.”

While the diagnosis caused him to miss a few days of work, Benson said the scare has given him a new perspective — and a new mission: urging others to take skin health seriously.

“The reason I tell you all of this is not to do a ‘woe is me’ story,” he explained. “I want to urge — slash beg — you to get checked. Especially if there’s a history in your family. Don’t put it off. That little decision could be life-changing.”

He ended with a hopeful message to listeners: “The outcome here, due to early detection, is a happy one.”

Benson continues to host his daily Fox News Radio show, which features what he describes as “fast-paced political and cultural insights from a right-leaning perspective.”
