Sharon Stone is raising eyebrows after revealing she once believed five mysterious “orbs” spoke to her in the aftermath of the massive brain hemorrhage that nearly killed her.
The 68-year-old “Basic Instinct” star opened up about the bizarre experience while discussing her long recovery from the devastating 2001 medical emergency on an upcoming episode of Mayim Bialik’s “Breakdown” podcast.
Stone said the strange encounter happened shortly after she returned home from the hospital, when she was still struggling to sleep at night and often drifted between sleeping and waking during the day.
“When I was laying on the couch, sleeping and awake, these orbs sort of presented themselves to me,” Stone said.
“These five orbs presented themselves to me and they sort of talked to me, but in a digital language.”
The Hollywood icon said she never told anyone about what she experienced at the time.
According to Stone, she believed the mysterious figures were communicating with her about whether she was supposed to survive.
“I just kept saying to them, ‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to stay here or if I’m supposed to die,’” she recalled.
Stone said the orbs responded that she was “supposed to stay.”
But the actress claimed she made one unusual demand before agreeing.
“I can only stay if two of you will stay with my son,” Stone said she told them. “Because I don’t want him to be alone, and I think he’s gonna get taken from me.”
Stone’s adopted son Roan, now 26, was only about a year old when she suffered the stroke.
At the time, Stone was married to journalist Phil Bronstein. The couple later divorced in 2004 and became embroiled in a bitter custody battle.
Stone said she became convinced the strange experience was connected to what would eventually happen with her son.
“Sure enough, he was taken from me,” she said.
Stone claimed she told the orbs: “We have to have an agreement. The two of you will stay with him and protect him.”
According to the actress, they agreed — but supposedly told her, “Your destiny requires that we stay with you.”
The unusual story has reportedly caused concern among some people close to Stone.
One source said the actress endured an extraordinarily traumatic medical crisis that changed nearly every aspect of her life.
The insider noted that Stone described the experience as taking place while she was somewhere between being asleep and awake.
However, another source claimed people in her inner circle are worried by her description of communicating with what sounded like otherworldly beings.
Stone suffered a life-threatening brain hemorrhage in 2001 that left her facing years of neurological problems.
She has previously revealed that the bleeding continued for nine days and dramatically affected her brain and senses.
“I bled into my brain for nine days, so my brain was shoved to the front of my face,” Stone said.
“It wasn’t positioned in my head where it was before.”
Stone said the experience changed virtually everything.
“My sense of smell, my sight, my touch,” she said. “I couldn’t read for a couple of years.”
The actress also recalled seeing unusual colors and patterns while doctors feared she might not survive.
“Things were stretched and I was seeing colour patterns,” she said. “A lot of people thought I was going to die.”
Stone has said the ordeal completely changed her view of life.
She even revealed that a Buddhist monk later told her she had essentially been reincarnated into the same body.
“A Buddhist monk told me that I had been reincarnated into my same body,” Stone said. “I had a death experience and then they brought me back.”
Stone eventually recovered and went on to adopt two more sons, Laird, now 21, and Quinn, 20. She has also maintained a relationship with Roan.
But the actress has said the medical crisis cost her far more than her health.
Stone previously claimed she had $18 million saved at the height of her career, only to discover that her finances had been devastated during the years she was recovering.
“I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone,” she said.
“My refrigerator, my phone — everything was in other people’s names.”
More than two decades later, Stone continues to describe the 2001 hemorrhage as a moment that completely divided her life into a before and after.
And her latest revelation about the mysterious five orbs is now adding another strange chapter to the story of her near-death experience.
