Ellen DeGeneres is ‘Suffocating’ Wife Portia After Move to England

Ellen DeGeneres may have left daytime TV behind, but insiders claim she hasn’t let go of her “queen of mean” reputation — and now it’s her wife, Portia de Rossi, who’s feeling the pressure.

According to sources, the couple’s big move from California to the English countryside has only made things worse. “Portia loves Ellen dearly, but she feels totally suffocated much of the time,” one insider spilled.

“Ellen micromanages everything — if Portia wants to go horseback riding, jogging, even a quick trip to the shops, Ellen bombards her with questions. And since Ellen hates being alone, Portia’s always expected to tag along.”

The pair relocated to the Cotswolds in 2024 after Ellen’s talk show ended following years of toxic workplace allegations. Though she denied the claims, the whispers haven’t died down. Now, word is Ellen’s control-freak streak is being directed at her wife of 17 years.

It isn’t the first time such accusations have surfaced. A former cameraman on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently alleged the host disliked male staffers interacting with Portia. “Ellen is extremely protective,” another insider said. “Sometimes it’s sweet, but often it feels stifling. Portia just wants freedom to live her life, and she’s getting tired of being smothered.”

The couple, who snapped up a sprawling estate complete with horse stables for Portia, may be hitting a crossroads. Insiders claim Portia is seriously considering taking time apart to “get her life back.”

“If Ellen doesn’t back off, it could drive Portia out the door for good,” one source warned.
