A quiet Washington neighborhood was turned into a scene of pure panic after a shocking video captured the moment an alleged drunk driver veered onto a sidewalk and appeared to chase down a child riding a dirt bike.
Authorities say 56-year-old Wendy Clemente was arrested following the disturbing April 28 incident in Cheney, Washington, a small town outside Spokane. The footage—released by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office—has since gone viral, showing just how close the situation came to ending in tragedy.
In the video, a young boy wearing a helmet rides his dirt bike along a residential sidewalk when a silver Ford Focus suddenly turns toward him. The driver begins honking repeatedly before swerving directly at the child.
“This woman is crazy,” the person filming can be heard saying as the car lunges toward the boy.
At one point, the vehicle appears to reverse and then accelerate straight at him, mounting the sidewalk and narrowly missing obstacles like a fire hydrant and nearby bushes. The boy looks back, seemingly startled, before speeding off as the car continues to pursue him.
“She’s trying to run him over… oh my God,” the witness says in disbelief.

Investigators say the incident unfolded around the same time deputies were responding to a separate call about a possible burglary roughly a mile away. A homeowner had reported seeing someone trying to open doors on a live security camera feed.
When deputies arrived at that location, they found Clemente along with the same silver Ford Focus seen in the video.
Things escalated even further during her arrest. According to police, Clemente attempted to kick a deputy as officers took her into custody.
When questioned, she gave a bizarre explanation—telling deputies she had simply taken her dogs for a ride and was “looking for other dogs to socialize with.”
Clemente initially denied any involvement in the dirt bike incident, but later admitted she had consumed alcohol prior to being detained. Authorities say she is also suspected of being under the influence of drugs.
She was booked into the Spokane County Jail on multiple charges, including first-degree attempted assault, DUI, and criminal trespass.
Despite the severity of the allegations, Clemente was arraigned the following day, April 29, and later released on her own recognizance.
The child involved was not injured, but the video has left many shaken, with residents calling the incident a close call that could have ended much worse.
