Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly done with her British “self-exile.” The 67-year-old talk-show veteran — once dubbed the “Queen of Mean” after her TV empire imploded under bullying accusations — is plotting a return to Los Angeles barely a year after storming out of America following Donald Trump’s 2024 election win.

Sources told RadarOnline that Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi are “coming home soon” after realizing English winters are more punishing than any Hollywood scandal. “Ellen was adamant they’d stay in the U.K. while Trump was in the White House, but she’s changed her mind,” said one insider. “They miss their friends, and Portia wants to act again. They’ll be back for the holidays — and maybe for good.”

The couple has been holed up in the Oxfordshire countryside, trying to make rural life work at their sprawling Kitesbridge Farm estate. But after putting their 43-acre property on the market for $30 million, they traded up for a hilltop mansion with horse stables for Portia — only to now feel the pull of sunny California once more.

“When we decided to live here full time, we knew Portia couldn’t live without her horses,” Ellen told fans earlier this year. “We needed land for them.”

Still, those close to her say the novelty wore off fast. “Ellen was very clear they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later,” the source added. “They miss the warm weather — and their circle.”

Her latest about-face comes after a rough few years for the fallen TV queen. Ellen’s daytime empire collapsed in 2020 following widespread allegations that her show was a toxic workplace. Though she issued a public apology, critics slammed her tone as “too little, too late.”

In her 2024 Netflix stand-up special, she joked about being “kicked out of show business,” quipping, “There’s no mean people in show business!” But for many, the sting of her downfall still lingers — making her return to L.A. all the more ironic.

As for where Ellen and Portia will live? That’s still a mystery. The couple offloaded nearly all of their California real estate last year, including a $29.9 million Montecito mansion. But knowing Ellen’s love for property flips, don’t be surprised if she lands another megamansion before the year’s out.

After all, some habits — and zip codes — are hard to quit.

  1. If Ellen thinks she’s gonna get a warm welcome for moving back to the United States, it ain’t gonna happen. There’s a lot of people very disappointed in her and her career is over with that’s done
