Meghan Markle is once again being accused of trying to overshadow Princess Kate — this time with her latest Netflix move.

The Duchess of Sussex has signed a new multi-year deal with the streaming giant, which includes a Christmas special set to debut this December. The timing is raising eyebrows because it will go head-to-head with Kate Middleton’s beloved Together At Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers didn’t mince words, telling RadarOnline.com that Meghan’s decision feels calculated. “It’s always said that whenever Catherine, the Princess of Wales, starts something, Meghan Markle does something else to cap it, or in some ways clash with it,” he said.

An insider echoed the sentiment, calling it “the type of vicious, nasty move that is coming to define Meghan.”

While the updated Netflix deal is reportedly a scaled-back version of the Sussexes’ original $100 million contract, it still allows Meghan and Prince Harry to produce select projects. But critics say the overlap with Kate’s charity-driven holiday concert shows Meghan’s competitive streak.

Vickers contrasted the two events, praising Kate’s annual gathering as “incredibly moving and incredibly special… all for the public good.” He then took a swipe at Meghan’s California lifestyle, remarking he wasn’t convinced her plans would be “in quite the same league.”

The deal announcement notably emphasized Meghan’s role, referring to Harry only as “her husband.” In a statement, she said, “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix… to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally.”

Vickers also suggested the couple needs the money to sustain their lavish lifestyle. “They’ve got to rely on things like this because they lead such an expensive lifestyle. And they just need money coming in, because the money must be pouring out,” he said.

The rivalry between the Sussexes and the Waleses is nothing new. Newsweek’s royal editor Jack Royston said the tension dates back to their days sharing a private office at Kensington Palace. He described the competition as “100 percent massive rivalry.”

The timing of the holiday special isn’t the only recent eyebrow-raiser — both Meghan and Kate also posted their children’s artwork on social media within the same week, sparking more talk of deliberate one-upmanship.

And of course, there’s the lingering wedding drama. Meghan famously told Oprah that Kate made her cry over Princess Charlotte’s dress, while other reports claim Meghan’s demands sparked the tension.

The Netflix move, whether intentional or not, is sure to add more fuel to a royal feud that shows no sign of cooling.

  1. Well if that’s true it shows she feels inferior. Not very nice Meghan. Sent from my iPhone

  2. I don’t think anyone will care about Meghan’s Christmas special, who is going to watch it. It will just be a flop like everything else she attempts. She will never in a million years top Princess Catherine as what Catherine does is with love and consideration for the people and community she represents, Meghan only does things to boost her own image… failure.
