Princess Charlotte, the 8-year-old daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, is reportedly the heir to Princess Diana’s famous Spencer Tiara — and Meghan Markle is said to be raging over the decision to pass the iconic $535,000 heirloom to Charlotte rather than her own daughter, Lilibet.

The Spencer Tiara, a dazzling piece worn by Diana on her 1981 wedding day, is a privately owned family treasure held by Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. Though not part of the official Crown Jewels, the tiara holds immense sentimental value and has been carefully guarded since Diana’s tragic death in 1997.

Jewelry expert Maxwell Stone says it’s likely Charlotte will be the one to wear the tiara at future major royal events, including her own wedding one day. “She embodies her grandmother’s legacy in a very public way, making the Spencer Tiara a fitting and symbolic choice,” Stone explains.

Meanwhile, Lilibet, who is just 5 and lives mostly in the United States with Meghan and Prince Harry, has a more distant connection to royal tradition. Stone points out that her upbringing outside the traditional royal circle makes it less likely she would be given the heirloom.

The tiara itself dates back to 1919, crafted from older pieces and featuring exquisite diamond designs of tulips, scrolls, and stars. Diana was known to adore it and wore it often throughout her life.

Its last public appearance was at a wedding in 2018, worn by Diana’s niece. Neither Kate nor Meghan have ever been seen wearing it, despite both often honoring Diana in other ways.

Sources reveal that Meghan, 43, is furious at the prospect of Lilibet being passed over once again. One insider says, “Charles Spencer is the ultimate custodian of the tiara, and Princess Charlotte’s role as Diana’s granddaughter and prominent royal makes her the natural choice. Meghan sees this as another snub to her family.”

The tiara remains a potent symbol of Diana’s legacy — a link between the past and the new generation of royals. For Charlotte, it’s a connection to her grandmother’s memory. For Lilibet, it highlights the ongoing divisions within the extended royal family.

Maxwell Stone sums it up: “With its fine diamonds, intricate design, and deep sentimental value, the Spencer Tiara is one of the most treasured heirlooms in British aristocracy — worth an estimated £535,000.”

7 thoughts on “Meghan Markle ‘Furious’ Princess Charlotte Set to Inherit Princess Diana’s Tiara?”
  1. Charlette is the oldest grand daughter, so should be first in line to inhereit. Harry and Meghan left the Royalty, so they and their off spring should be inelligable to inhereit royalty associated assets.

  2. The Spencer tiara is part of Earl Spencer’s estate. He has a son and a few daughters who would be more in line with inheriting same. I can’t see the tiara leaving possession by Earl Spencer.

  3. Yes, I agree that it will most likely stay with the Spencer family. I highly doubt that Meghan is “furious” about Charlotte getting it. It makes sense that she would since she is the oldest granddaughter of Diana.

  4. The shrew’s “daughter” is too young anyway to understand or comprehend what the tiara means anyway. It’s her “mother” who wants to wear it…since she and “spineless” left the RF, there’s no jewels, fancy clothes or the massive houses for her to live in. She’s REALLY furious that Catherine gets all of that instead of her.

  5. Meghan and Harry left , they didn’t want anything to do with royalty. Harry has despised his birthright ever since Princess Diana died. I think Harry should make up with his family so that his children will know about their heritage. But as far as welcoming him back into the line of succession and giving him royal duties again? No! And they nor his children should not get the Tiera! It rightfully belongs to Princess Charlotte!
