In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 26-year-old conservationist revealed that she’s finally starting to feel like herself again after enduring multiple surgeries to address her chronic pain.

“51 endometriosis lesions, a cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd,” Bindi wrote. “My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping was taken care of. I can FINALLY say that I’m feeling better. Genuinely healing.”

She went on to say that she can now “function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain” and is slowly regaining her strength. “I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again,” she shared.

Bindi’s journey has been far from easy. In May, she had to undergo emergency surgery, causing her to miss a gala honoring her late father, Steve Irwin. She admitted that as a teen and young adult, she often felt ashamed, weak, and dismissed when doctors and others told her that her pain was simply “part of being a woman.”

“It took me so long to talk about it,” she told the Courier Mail, noting that only her mother Terri Irwin, brother Robert, and husband Chandler Powell knew the extent of her suffering. “Everyone else thought I was flaky because I would back out of commitments at the last minute due to the pain.”

Bindi also opened up about the hurtful questions she’s faced regarding having more children. “If you could see on the outside what it feels like on the inside you would never ask,” she said, stressing that people need to approach such topics with kindness and sensitivity.

Now, she’s using her platform to advocate for women’s health awareness. “We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health,” she urged. “It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.”

Her honesty has already inspired countless women around the world who are also living with endometriosis — and she says she’s grateful she found the courage to speak out.
