Dem Mayor Arrested During Scuffle with Authorities Outside ICE Prison

Left-wing politicians clash with law enforcement in shocking stunt to protect illegal aliens, not American citizens.

In a scene that looked more like a radical protest than a legitimate oversight visit, Democrat lawmakers and Newark’s leftist mayor tried to force their way into a high-security ICE facility in New Jersey on Friday—where killers, rapists, and MS-13 gang members are being held.

Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested after trespassing onto the grounds of Delaney Hall, an ICE detention center in Newark. He wasn’t alone. Three far-left members of Congress—Reps. Rob Menendez Jr., Bonnie Watson Coleman, and LaMonica McIver—joined him in trying to storm the gate in what Homeland Security is calling a dangerous breach of protocol.

Prioritizing Illegals Over Law and Order

Delaney Hall isn’t some bureaucratic office—it’s a federal detention center currently housing some of the worst criminals imaginable. That includes illegal alien gang members, child predators, and violent felons. But rather than support law enforcement, these Democrats decided to cause chaos and obstruct ICE’s job.

New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba said Baraka was given multiple warnings to leave but refused:

“The Mayor of Newark committed trespass and ignored repeated warnings from Homeland Security. He has been taken into custody. No one is above the law.”

The left’s reaction? Outrage—not over the criminals in custody, but over Baraka’s arrest. Democrats including Cory Booker and Gov. Phil Murphy slammed the lawful action, with Murphy claiming he was “outraged” the mayor was arrested at all.

ICE Under Siege by the Radical Left

The three Democrat lawmakers, rather than request a formal tour, waited outside with a group of anti-ICE protesters. As the gates opened to allow an ICE transport bus through, they took the opportunity to force their way in. According to DHS, they rushed the gate, bypassed security, and put both agents and detainees at risk.

DHS issued a blunt statement:

“Storming a detention facility is not oversight—it’s a reckless political stunt. These members of Congress are not above the law.”

Rather than apologize, the lawmakers doubled down. Menendez—whose father, disgraced Sen. Bob Menendez, is under federal indictment—broke down crying at a press conference and accused ICE of intimidation.

McIver claimed they were “assaulted” and alleged ICE is out of control.

“If they can treat members of Congress like this,” she warned, “imagine what they’re doing to everyone else.”

Conservatives see this differently.

Protecting Criminals, Not Americans

“Let’s be very clear,” said retired ICE supervisor Jason Piccolo. “This facility holds MS-13 members and sex offenders. These Democrats didn’t show up to help Americans—they showed up to protect illegal immigrants.”

One of the men detained inside Delaney Hall is Chinchilla Caballero, a confirmed MS-13 member arrested just last week. Yet not a single Democrat who tried to break into the facility mentioned the danger posed by men like him.

Instead, Rep. Coleman posted online just hours earlier:

“We’ve heard stories of ICE abuse. We’re here to exercise our oversight authority.”

What they ignored is that ICE had already cleared the facility with permits, safety inspections, and security protocols. The real abuse, critics argue, was directed at the law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs.

The Bigger Picture: A Left-Wing War on ICE

New Jersey Democrats have been trying to block ICE operations for years. In 2021, Gov. Murphy signed a law banning private immigration detention centers. That law is still being challenged in federal court. But this week, the radical wing of the Democrat Party took things to a new level—turning protest into physical interference with federal agents.

Mayor Baraka himself called ICE operations “illegal,” comparing them to President Trump’s leadership—despite Trump not even being in office.

“They think they can do whatever they want,” Baraka said of ICE. But critics say that’s exactly what Baraka and his allies did on Friday.

Lawsuit and Hypocrisy

Newark officials filed a lawsuit last month claiming the GEO Group, which runs Delaney Hall, bypassed safety inspections. ICE responded directly:

“These claims are false. Every required permit and safety standard has been met.”

So why the outrage? Conservatives say it’s simple: Democrats are more interested in protecting illegal immigrants than defending American citizens.

One Local Resident Put It Best:

“This facility is keeping criminals off our streets,” said Tony Delgado, a Newark resident and military veteran. “But these politicians care more about photo ops than public safety. It’s disgraceful.”
