Biden Claims He Wants to ‘Smack’ Trump at Campaign Event

President Joe Biden fired up his hometown crowd in Scranton, Pennsylvania, with a hard-hitting jab at former President Donald Trump, calling him “the kind of guy you’d like to smack in the a–.”

The blunt remark, delivered during a Saturday event with the local carpenters’ union, left the crowd cheering and showed Biden in an unfiltered, combative mode just days before the 2024 election.

“I know some of you guys are tempted to think he’s this macho guy … but, I’m serious, these are the kind of guys you’d like to smack in the a–,” Biden said through gritted teeth. The 81-year-old President was in full campaign mode, aiming to rally blue-collar voters for Vice President Kamala Harris as she heads into the final stretch against Trump.

This moment is just the latest in Biden’s increasingly fiery rhetoric against Trump and his policies. “The stakes couldn’t be higher,” he told the energized crowd, as applause filled the hall. “I come here today to talk about what’s at stake for all of us,” he said, underscoring his belief that a Trump win could bring sweeping rollbacks to major Democratic initiatives.

Biden warned that a Republican victory would gut the Affordable Care Act, threatening health care for millions, and dismantle the CHIPS Act, a cornerstone of his administration’s efforts to bolster U.S. manufacturing. The White House has pointed to this act as crucial, attributing the creation of over 115,000 manufacturing jobs to its implementation. The crowd—many of whom had felt the benefits firsthand—responded with a wave of cheers.

“Trump and his allies are out to slash Social Security just to fund tax cuts for the wealthy,” Biden claimed, referencing the GOP’s historic focus on entitlement reform. Biden has clearly taken a gloves-off approach as Election Day looms. Just last week, he stirred up headlines after labeling Trump’s supporters as “garbage,” a comment made in the wake of Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, where a comedian reportedly joked about Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” Trump’s team wasted no time in capitalizing on Biden’s comment. In a bizarre move, Trump arrived at his next Wisconsin rally in a garbage truck, donning a neon orange safety vest in a theatrical rebuttal.

The backlash reportedly led the White House to cancel several scheduled campaign calls featuring Biden in an attempt to contain the fallout.

Biden’s criticisms have even veered into controversial territory. At an October rally in New Hampshire, he hinted at wanting to “lock up” his rival—a phrase that echoed Trump’s famous “Lock her up” chant against Hillary Clinton in 2016. “If I said this five years ago, you’d lock me up: We gotta lock him up,” Biden said. But almost immediately, he tried to clarify, saying, “Politically, lock him up—lock him out, that’s what we’ve got to do.”
