Hollywood is still reeling from the gruesome slaying of Rob and Michele Reiner — and new details are painting an even darker picture of their family’s final months.

According to insiders speaking to Rob Shuter’s Substack, their troubled son Nick Reiner was receiving a jaw-dropping $10,000 monthly allowance — all while living rent-free in his parents’ guesthouse.

“He didn’t pay a single bill,” a source claimed. “They covered everything — groceries, utilities, even extras. It was a full safety net. He was completely taken care of.”

Friends say Rob and Michele “just wanted Nick to be comfortable and supported,” even as he battled long-documented struggles with addiction and mental health issues. But their generosity couldn’t stop the tragedy that followed.

Earlier this month, the Hollywood power couple was found brutally slain inside their home, their throats slit. Nick, 31, was arrested shortly after and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special allegation of using a knife.

Their other children, Romy and Jake Reiner, broke their silence days later, saying they were in “unimaginable pain” and asked for compassion amid the speculation.

“Mom and Dad weren’t just our parents,” they shared in a joint statement. “They were our best friends.”

But insiders tell RadarOnline that Romy had long feared her brother. “She’s been scared of Nick since childhood,” one source revealed. “His outbursts came out of nowhere — even before the drugs. She didn’t think it was a good idea for him to live so close to their parents.”

Now, with Nick behind bars and the Reiner family shattered, those who knew them say the tragedy feels like a nightmare that could have been prevented.

  1. The Reiners enabled their son Nick with no responsibility showing him the wrong effect and although 18 rehabs did not help Nick, they should of had him wherever he could be helped further because everyone was afraid of him. The tragedy of this is love did not conquer all.

  2. Nick might have threatened them into allowing him to live there and get 10K a month as a way of him NOT killing them. They might have told him that they were cutting him off, and he reacted by killing them. Wonder what he took from their bedroom and sold quickly for cash…his mom’s jewelry perhaps…We only will know when he’s brought to trial and convicted.

He needed to have been in a mental hospital getting help, not getting 10k for his drugs…If his sister was afraid of him years and years earlier, then that speaks volumes….the drugs didn’t make him crazy, he already was….they didn’t see it in time…
