Sir Elton John may be a knight, but he’s still got that rock-star temper.
According to multiple witnesses, the 78-year-old “Rocket Man” exploded backstage at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday night — all because the show was running behind schedule.
Sources told Page Six the legend was pacing and fuming before hitting the stage, yelling, “What the hell is wrong with you people? Nobody knows what they’re doing!”
Apparently, Elton was anxious to jet off right after his performance. “My plane is waiting!” he reportedly shouted, while crew members scrambled to get the evening back on track.
The tantrum didn’t stop him from delivering a heartfelt tribute to Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, who died in June at 82. Elton skipped his trademark piano and instead took the mic for an emotional rendition of “God Only Knows,” calling Wilson his “idol” and crediting him as his biggest songwriting inspiration.
Fans say it was a powerful moment — even if the mood backstage was pure drama.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Sir Elton has let his diva side show. Back in 1999, Tina Turner revealed he “just exploded” on her during rehearsals for VH1’s Divas Live. Turner told 60 Minutes that her only mistake was “trying to show Elton John how to play his piano.”
At least this time, Elton cooled off before storming the stage — no piano-throwing required.
