Danny Trejo fans went into full-blown meltdown this weekend after a viral Instagram post falsely claimed the legendary Machete star had died. The internet spiraled when actor John Leguizamo — Trejo’s former Infiltrator co-star — unknowingly shared the fake tribute, giving the rumor unexpected credibility and triggering chaos across social media.

For hours, panicked fans flooded X, TikTok, and Instagram with tearful tributes, convinced Hollywood had lost another icon. But Trejo himself quickly shut it all down. “Thank you all for your concern but I am very much alive,” he posted. “Someone is spreading fake news.”

TMZ confirmed that the report was nothing more than an elaborate hoax, and Trejo’s rep assured everyone the 80-year-old cult favorite is doing just fine.

Ironically, the last time Trejo made headlines, it was while talking about the tragic loss of his Heat co-star Val Kilmer. Danny passionately defended Kilmer’s reputation on set, saying he wasn’t difficult, just deeply committed to his craft. Trejo even joked that his only “real issue” was that Kilmer didn’t get the Oscar nomination he deserved for Tombstone.

As for Trejo himself, fans can breathe easy — Hollywood’s favorite badass isn’t going anywhere. He’s alive, thriving, and still every bit the legend his fans know and love.
