Prince Harry is making headlines again — and this time, it’s not about Netflix deals or royal feuds. Insiders say the Duke of Sussex is “desperate” to bring his children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, back to the U.K. to see where he grew up, but a bitter security battle and deep family tensions are keeping that dream on hold.

Harry, 40, touched down in London on Monday for a four-day trip — his longest visit since moving to California with Meghan Markle five years ago. Friends claim this visit carries “huge emotional weight” for the Duke. “He hasn’t given up hope,” one insider said. “He wants his children to know their roots, to understand their history, and to meet the family he grew up with.”

This homecoming comes on the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, a reminder of the deep ties Harry still feels to his homeland despite his self-imposed exile. Yet, he continues to avoid bringing Meghan and the kids to Britain after losing his legal fight with the U.K. Home Office over security protections. Harry maintains the country is “not safe” for his family under current arrangements.

Harry’s itinerary is loaded with emotional stops. He’ll attend the WellChild Awards in London, a charity close to his heart that supports seriously ill children. He’s also scheduled to visit youth-focused projects tackling violence, along with private receptions for several of his key patronages, including the Invictus Foundation, the Diana Award, and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports bereaved military families.

“This trip isn’t just ceremonial,” says a royal insider. “Harry wants to remind everyone that his charitable work still matters — even if he’s doing it from across the Atlantic.”

The biggest question hanging over this visit: will Harry finally reunite with King Charles?

Father and son haven’t seen each other since February 2024, when they shared a brief 30-minute meeting following the King’s cancer diagnosis. As of last weekend, no meeting was on the books, but palace sources say “the door isn’t fully closed.” Friends insist Harry would accept an invitation “in a heartbeat.”

Still, insiders caution against expecting a warm reconciliation. “There’s no direct communication between them right now,” one source revealed. “Harry feels the ball is in the Royal Family’s court. But from the palace perspective, they’re tired of his public pleas.”

While a meeting with Charles remains uncertain, one thing is crystal clear: there will be no reunion with Prince William. Tensions between the brothers are said to be “beyond repair,” with sources claiming they haven’t spoken directly in months.

Adding fuel to the fire, insiders say William remains fiercely protective of Kate Middleton and deeply resentful of Harry’s past criticism of the family. “William is defensive, Kate is still hurt, and the trust just isn’t there,” says a royal watcher.

For now, Harry continues to walk a tightrope — torn between his new life in California and his longing to give his children a sense of their royal heritage. “He really would like to come back to the U.K. much more,” one friend revealed. “But until security is resolved and relationships are repaired, it’s complicated.”

This visit, insiders say, could mark a turning point — or deepen the divide. Will Harry use his platform to quietly build bridges, or will his return reignite old tensions?

  1. Harry will use ANYONE he can to have things go his way.
He is a spoiled BRAT who doesn’t deserve to be a part of the Royal Family . Should have lost his Royal status when he started this . Thank God for William !!

  2. Harry grows some balls and be an adult. Take your children (which you should have this trip) to see their grandfather before its too late. If you don’t, they may resent you later in life. You’ve been over to the UK several times and nothing has happened. You and the kids are safer if you don’t take the bit@h Megan with you. You do not look or seem happy since you left your country.
