Prince Harry is reportedly ready to defy Meghan Markle in a last-ditch bid to bring their kids closer to the royal family — even if it puts his marriage on thin ice.
According to insiders, the Duke of Sussex has been quietly plotting a secret Christmas return to the U.K. so his children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, can reconnect with their grandfather, King Charles, whose health has sparked growing concern.
“Harry is on a mission,” a palace insider told reporters. “He won’t accept that his children grow up never knowing their British family. He’s prepared to go against Meghan’s wishes to make it happen.”
Sources say Meghan, 44, wants to keep the kids settled in California, but Harry, 41, believes “time is running out” for the King, 76, and that “the children deserve to know where they come from.”
Despite his public claim earlier this year that he “can’t see a world” where his family returns to Britain due to his security concerns, Harry’s inner circle says that’s no longer true. After losing his multimillion-dollar legal battle for royal protection, the prince is said to be pursuing a “quieter campaign” to arrange safe private visits — and a potential reunion with his father over the holidays.
“Harry thinks taking his kids to see Charles at Christmas will be a powerful way to mend fences,” another insider shared. “He knows he’s got a lot to make up for after Spare and the Netflix fallout.”
And while his marriage may be tense, Harry is also reportedly looking forward to reconnecting with old friends during his trip. “He misses the banter, the pubs, and the football. Meghan’s stripped that away from him, but he wants it back,” a royal watcher said.
Though Harry’s tea with the King earlier this year reportedly lasted less than an hour, friends say he’s determined to rebuild trust before it’s too late. “He knows this may be his last real chance to make peace — for himself, his dad, and his kids.”
