In one of the most jaw-dropping political turnarounds in decades, Hillary Clinton — once Donald Trump’s fiercest rival — has admitted she would be “more than happy” to nominate the 47th President for a Nobel Peace Prize… if he can pull off what globalists and career diplomats have failed to do: end the bloody war in Ukraine.
The confession came during an appearance on the Raging Moderates podcast, where the 77-year-old former first lady told host Jessica Tarlov that, despite years of venom between her and Trump, she’d have no hesitation supporting the idea if he achieves a just peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war… stand up to Putin… and do it without forcing Ukraine to hand over territory, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,” Clinton said, adding, “My goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
President Trump is set to meet Putin on Friday, August 15, in Alaska — a high-stakes summit that could decide the future of Eastern Europe. The president told reporters mid-flight that discussions may involve land exchanges, but stressed, “It’s Ukraine’s decision. I’m here to get them to the table, not negotiate for them.”
The meeting comes as Trump enjoys renewed leverage on the global stage, just months into his second term. His “peace through strength” doctrine has already reshuffled alliances, putting America back in the driver’s seat after years of what Republicans called weak Democratic leadership.
The potential thaw is nothing short of remarkable given Clinton’s past barbs. In 2016, she infamously labeled Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables” and frequently accused him of cozying up to dictators. Earlier this year — after Trump trounced Kamala Harris in the 2024 election — she claimed his America would be “blind and blundering, feeble and friendless.”
Yet now, with peace talks looming, even Clinton appears willing to set aside her personal distaste if it means ending a war that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
Trump has never been shy about his desire for the world’s most famous peace prize — especially since Barack Obama received one in 2009. At a February meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump told reporters, “They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”
On the rally circuit, he’s been even blunter: “They gave Obama the Nobel Prize. He didn’t even know why the hell he got it. I got elected in a much bigger, better, crazier election… but they gave it to him.”
Trump’s allies aren’t waiting for Clinton’s hypothetical. In March, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) formally nominated the president for the Nobel, praising him as “the strongest advocate for peace through strength since Ronald Reagan.”
Issa added, “It was the 2024 election of Donald Trump — even before his inauguration — that jumpstarted peace efforts in multiple regions of the world. We’re already seeing the benefits.”
If Clinton’s pledge were ever acted upon, Trump would be joining a short list of American leaders to win the prize, including Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama.
But for now, all eyes are on Alaska — and whether Trump can deliver the kind of deal that would force even his oldest enemies to applaud.
