Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew, reportedly had her sights set on Tiger Woods after their divorce—and was so smitten she allegedly flew 1,500 miles just for the chance to meet him.
According to bombshell claims in the new book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, Ferguson became infatuated with the then-rising golf star in the late 1990s, shortly after her high-profile split from the disgraced royal.
The book claims that during a trip to New York—where she had also tried (and failed) to connect with John F. Kennedy Jr.—Fergie confided in British journalist Piers Morgan about her new crush.
“I’m in love,” she reportedly told him.
“Who’s the lucky guy?” Morgan asked.
“He’s so gorgeous. Do you think I stand a chance with him? It’s Tiger Woods!”
Despite never having met the 22-year-old golfer, Ferguson was apparently so taken with him that she flew 1,500 miles to catch a glimpse—and hopefully get a meeting. When Morgan reminded her that Woods was likely focused on his career, Ferguson supposedly shrugged it off and said, “I’ll follow him around the course for a bit and see how I get on.”
While romance never bloomed between them, the two did eventually become friends. In 1997, after Woods’ victory at the Byron Nelson tournament in Texas, the pair were photographed sharing a warm hug, with Ferguson grinning ear to ear.
She remained a loyal supporter of Woods throughout the years. After his stunning Masters win in 2019, Ferguson publicly praised him on Instagram, writing, “Never have I been more proud… Tiger’s heart is loyal, steadfast, and he is an amazing friend.”
But Tiger wasn’t the only A-lister who caught Fergie’s attention. At one point, she reportedly gushed over George Clooney. Asked if she’d go out with the Hollywood heartthrob, she cheekily responded, “Are pork chops greasy?”
The book also dives deep into the inner drama of the royal family. It includes explosive but denied claims that Prince Harry once gave Prince Andrew a “bloody nose” during a family argument in 2013. The book also alleges Andrew made cruel comments about Harry and Meghan’s marriage and verbally berated palace staff—claims that have been pushed back by insiders.
Despite the scandals and divorce, Ferguson and Andrew have remained unusually close over the years. The two still share a home and continue to present a united front, even as new allegations about the Duke of York continue to surface.
