A Queens neighborhood is reeling after a horrific and deeply disturbing tragedy unfolded inside a quiet Ridgewood apartment over the weekend. According to the NYPD, a 54-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife and 2-year-old daughter while on a FaceTime call with his nephew — a shocking and brutal act that played out in real time on the screen.

Police say the man, whose name has not yet been released, used a kitchen knife to stab his 41-year-old wife 18 times and his toddler daughter nine times during the Saturday attack. The couple’s young daughter was reportedly in the home with them when the violence erupted.

The suspect’s nephew, watching in horror via FaceTime, immediately called 911. When police arrived, they found the suspect critically injured after turning the knife on himself, stabbing his own chest. Officers rushed all three to local hospitals. The mother and child were pronounced dead, while the suspect remains in critical condition at Elmhurst Hospital.

Neighbors, stunned by the scene, said they hadn’t heard a sound during the brutal attack. “No one heard anything,” one resident said. “It was only when the police came and carried the bodies out that we realized something terrible had happened.”

A neighbor told reporters that relatives of the wife arrived soon after and were devastated. According to one family member, the husband had a history of mental and emotional abuse, often threatening his wife with chilling warnings. “He told her many times, ‘One day, I’m going to kill you,’” the neighbor said, recounting what she’d been told by the grieving family. “That means he was planning it.”

The woman’s two older sons, who lived with their biological father, had reportedly tried to reach her all day. When they arrived at the home and learned what happened, witnesses said they broke down in total shock and grief. “Everyone was crying, bawling. It was like a panic attack,” one neighbor said.

To those who lived nearby, the family seemed normal, even happy. They were often seen strolling through the neighborhood with their young daughter. “They looked like a loving couple,” one resident said. “This is the last thing anyone expected.”

Police are treating the case as a murder-suicide attempt. An investigation is ongoing.
