WASHINGTON — May 20, 2025 — In a moment that stunned even seasoned Capitol Hill observers, South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace turned a House Oversight Committee hearing into a dramatic exposé — revealing a blown-up image she claimed showed her naked body, secretly filmed without consent.

“I didn’t know I had been filmed. I didn’t give my consent,” Mace said with raw emotion, standing beside a large black-and-white poster featuring a blurred female silhouette outlined in yellow. “That naked figure is me.”

The fiery Republican lawmaker, known for defying political norms, launched into her latest salvo in what’s become a deeply personal and public battle with her ex-fiancé, Charleston tech executive Patrick Bryant. Mace alleges that Bryant, along with several other men, covertly filmed her and numerous other women over the course of several years.

“This was a violation of everything I stand for — as a woman, as a mother, and as a member of Congress,” she told the committee. “The camera sat silent, yet it screamed that my safety was negotiable and my dignity disposable.”

A Chaotic Prelude on Social Media

Just hours before the hearing, Mace ignited social media with a startling post on X:

“I will show my naked body on one of the videos predator and rapist Patrick Bryant took of me and many other women.”

The post — graphic, blunt, and accusatory — set the stage for one of the most emotionally charged oversight hearings in recent memory.

“Exhibit 1” — The Poster That Shocked the Room

In the hearing room, Mace unveiled what she described as “Exhibit 1,” an image allegedly taken from a video recorded without her knowledge. The poster showed a domestic scene — a kitchen and living space — with a small, barely visible figure circled. Mace identified the silhouette as herself.

Also on display were photos of the property where she says hidden cameras were discovered and additional blurred-out images of women she says were filmed in similar ways.

“This wasn’t just about me,” Mace continued. “Many women were recorded. I have seen the footage. I’ve seen the faces. I have their backs.”

An Explosive Timeline

This latest incident follows Mace’s bombshell floor speech in February, when she accused her ex-fiancé and his associates of sexual misconduct and covert surveillance. She said she discovered “a mountain of evidence” — including videos of herself — after gaining access to Bryant’s private safe and cellphone.

“I was horrified. I was humiliated,” she said on the House floor. “I couldn’t believe the woman in that video was me.”

One of the men named by Mace has since filed a defamation lawsuit against her, and all the accused parties have denied wrongdoing.

State Officials Under Fire

In addition to accusing Bryant, Mace has taken aim at South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, accusing him of ignoring her claims and protecting the powerful.

Wilson’s office flatly denied the charge, calling her remarks “categorically false” and claiming the AG was unaware of any such allegations before Mace’s speech.

Mace isn’t backing down.

“South Carolina’s laws are a joke. Women in our state are sitting ducks for predators,” she said Tuesday, before announcing new legislation that would toughen penalties for non-consensual surveillance and covert recordings.

A Call to Action

Her message wasn’t just legislative. It was personal — and directed at others who may have been victimized.

“To the women who don’t know they’ve been recorded — I see you,” Mace said. “You’re not alone. Step into the light with me. Today, I choose daylight.”

Background: A Lawmaker Known for Defiance

Mace, 46, made history as the first woman to graduate from The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets. A rising GOP star with a reputation for unpredictability, she’s often clashed with her own party and is no stranger to controversy — but her recent revelations have taken things to a new level.

What’s Next?

While the legal fallout continues to unfold, Mace says she’s undeterred.

“I’m done being silent,” she told reporters after the hearing. “The truth is out there — and I’m not backing down.”

Whether it leads to arrests, resignations, or policy reform remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear: Nancy Mace has turned a personal nightmare into a political firestorm — and the nation is watching.

    1. There should be a rule that members of Congress are not to bring their hurt feelings/revenges on personal breakups into Congress. They should deal with them like everyone else does. Nancy Mace was apparently whooed by this creepy rich guy’s money and wanted to marry him. Then she was jilted and hurt.

  2. IF, this is true, mace & all the women involved have my sympathies. everyone today MUST assume they are being recorded until they’ve de-bugged. a shame, the new world we live in. as for mace’s pic, not even her own mother could say that was hew tho. not saying i doubt her on this, but she has been known to lie. boy who cried wolf & all that.
