Capitol Hill just became the latest battleground in the war over free speech and political violence. Conservative firebrand Laura Loomer is demanding action after she says one of her reporters was assaulted—yes, assaulted—by Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

And there’s video.

The Confrontation

The incident took place inside the U.S. Capitol. Charles Downs, a reporter working with Loomer, confronted Crockett in the hallway, pressing her on her recent comments about Tesla. The footage, posted by Loomer to X (formerly Twitter), shows Downs asking pointed questions as Crockett walks with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN).

What happened next is in dispute—but sparks flew.

As Downs raised his camera near Crockett’s face, the congresswoman appears to slap or shove it down. Downs claims she scratched his hand. The video shows faint red marks, but no clear-cut violence.

Loomer says that’s beside the point.

“This was a physical assault on a member of the free press,” Loomer posted. “Democrats have normalized violence against Trump supporters and independent media. We won’t be silenced.”

Downs added in a video filmed outside the Capitol, “I asked a simple question about Tesla and non-violence. Instead of answering, Rep. Crockett attacked me. That’s unacceptable from anyone—especially a sitting member of Congress.”

Crockett Responds—but Avoids Blame

Rep. Crockett offered her side online, claiming she was the one under threat.

“An individual attempted to invade my personal safety for a soundbite,” she wrote. She thanked Rep. Burchett for stepping in to “ensure I made it to Committee.”

But Loomer wasn’t buying it—and she dragged Burchett into the firestorm.

“She was walking with a Republican who witnessed everything,” Loomer posted. “If Burchett cares about law and order, he needs to step up and speak out.”

Burchett’s office didn’t immediately return comment.

Loomer Doubles Down

Loomer, never one to back down, went further: “I’ve instructed Charles to file a formal police report. And maybe get a Tetanus shot while he’s at it—Crockett acted like a rabid animal.

She’s also demanding House Speaker Mike Johnson bring a censure motion against Crockett.

“Let’s see if the GOP has the backbone they claim to have,” she posted. “We say we oppose political violence—well, this is your test.”

A Pattern of Extremism? Or a Double Standard?

Crockett has made headlines before. Most recently, she referred to Texas Governor Greg Abbott—who is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair—as “Governor Hot Wheels” during a Human Rights Campaign event. The remark sparked bipartisan backlash.

“This woman is trash,” conservative commentator Charlie Kirk said.

“She has zero class,” added Fox contributor Guy Benson.

But for many on the right, this week’s alleged assault takes things to a whole new level.

“This is a CRIME,” posted MAGA journalist Nick Sortor. “LOCK HER UP.”

Even Benny Johnson weighed in, tweeting to his 3.6 million followers: “Jasmine Crockett just ASSAULTED one of Laura Loomer’s DC Correspondents while being questioned.”

The Bigger Picture

Crockett has long been a loud opponent of President Trump and his allies, frequently clashing with Republican figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Nancy Mace.

But critics say she’s now crossed a line—from harsh words to physical aggression.

The backdrop? A broader crackdown on Elon Musk’s Tesla, which has faced vandalism and far-left protests over its political associations. Crockett recently appeared on a livestream backing anti-Tesla demonstrations. Though she stressed non-violence, Loomer and others say her rhetoric was reckless.

“She is enabling domestic terrorism,” Loomer posted. “And now she’s lashing out when confronted.”

What’s Next?

A police report is expected. Whether charges are filed remains to be seen. Capitol Police and Crockett’s office have yet to provide further comment.

But the outrage is boiling over—and for many in the America First crowd, this isn’t just about a scratch on a reporter’s hand.

It’s about whether Democrats can get away with physically silencing dissent, right inside the halls of Congress.

As Loomer put it: “If the roles were reversed, the media would be calling for my arrest. So why does Jasmine Crockett get a free pass?”

Stay tuned. This fight is far from over.
