“This isn’t about you,” he told bystanders. But someone still ended up dead.

MADERA, CA — A quiet Tuesday night at a Walgreens turned into chaos and bloodshed when a 30-year-old California man opened fire, killing a store employee in what police now say was fueled by a long-standing grudge against America’s pharmacy giants.

The suspect, identified as Narciso Gallardo Fernandez, reportedly stormed into the Madera Walgreens just before closing time, brandishing a firearm. According to security footage, Fernandez waved the gun aggressively and opened fire—leaving 34-year-old employee Erik Velazquez dead on the floor.

“He told some of the people inside, ‘This isn’t about you,’” said Madera Police Chief Giachino Chiaramonte during a Wednesday morning press conference. “But make no mistake—this was deliberate. This was rage.”

A Warped War Against Capitalism?

Fernandez’s exact motive remains under investigation, but police say he harbored a deep resentment toward big pharmacies—an anger that may have boiled over in the wake of growing anti-capitalist rhetoric in parts of the country.

“He had strong opinions about corporations and pharmacies,” Chiaramonte said. “There was no personal connection to the victim. This was broader than Walgreens.”

This incident follows a disturbing trend across the U.S.—where resentment against large institutions is manifesting in violent outbursts, often fueled by social media conspiracies and radical ideologies.

Community in Shock

Velazquez, a beloved local employee, was just trying to finish his shift. “Erik was one of the kindest people I knew,” said a co-worker who asked to remain anonymous. “He worked hard, always smiled, and never deserved this.”

Walgreens issued a statement expressing heartbreak over the incident:

“We are deeply saddened by last night’s tragic event, which resulted in the death of one of our team members. Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones.”

The company added it is offering counseling for staff and cooperating fully with law enforcement.

From Grievance to Homicide

Police took Fernandez into custody without incident shortly after the shooting. He is currently being held at the Madera County Jail on homicide charges. His prior criminal record has not yet been released, but investigators are reviewing his digital footprint, writings, and recent purchases.

“This was a senseless act of violence,” said local resident Maria Torres. “People are angry, but now we’re just scared.”

Bigger Picture: When Hate Becomes Policy

As radical left-wing ideology demonizes American businesses—from health care to energy—some fear that violent fringe elements are taking those ideas literally.

“There’s a growing narrative that corporations are evil and need to be ‘taken down,’” said a retired LAPD officer familiar with similar cases. “When unstable minds latch on to that, tragedy follows.”

President Trump has repeatedly warned about the dangers of unchecked anger fueled by woke extremism. This may be the latest example of that warning coming true.

  1. So when is California going to name a bill after this asshole and when are they going to start a go fund me page

  2. This will happen more and more as people lose their resources, jobs, their health insurance and if they are lucky to still have some simlence it will be twice as higher. Stop blaming other political parties and put the blame where it should at the feet of greedy, wealthy bureaucrats that daily gouging the working people dry.

  3. I am so very tired of leftist’s claiming Capitalism is the cause of Pharmaceutical companies raking everyone over the coals with their manipulations and price gouging!!!! Capitalism is open competition under the rule of constitutional law without any other interference from the government!!! — Pharmaceutical companies and Insurance companies use EVERY means possible to use GOVERNMENT to totally destroy open competition to run smaller pharmaceutical companies out of business and pay off whatever bureaucrats in DC and state government necessary with big bucks to block anyone doing anything about their abuses. Prime example: whoever thought the Federal government would grant total immunity to any lawsuits for damages caused by their drug products – most famously their endless line of CV vaccine/s? Well – the Feds did just that – and only ONE example – and that is NOT anything close to Capitalism – it’s sheer Fascism on one scale and Communism on another!!! Capitalism is the antithesis of both of those political systems!!!
