Whoopi Goldberg sparked controversy on The View Monday when she suggested President Donald Trump’s immigration policies could lead to wrongful deportations—including her own.

Goldberg, 69, made the claim while discussing reports that the Trump administration deported alleged members of the notorious Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang to El Salvador, despite a judge’s temporary order against it. The White House has denied wrongdoing, stating that deportations followed legal protocols.

“You just gotta keep your eyes open, y’all,” Goldberg warned during the show’s Hot Topics segment. “If they can just come up and take somebody because they’ve made a decision, any one of us could find ourselves being deported to some country we’ve never been to.”

Her remark drew a quick response from co-host Ana Navarro, who quipped, “Don’t give them any ideas, girl.”

Goldberg went further, questioning the administration’s access to personal data. “I understand you want to clean out the bad stuff. I get it. But why do you now have access to my personal information?” she asked. “My Constitutional right to free speech—why are you messing with that?”

The Academy Award-winning actress also questioned the process of identifying gang members. “Were they already in jail, or did you just pick people up? The problem is, nobody knows what’s going on.”

Sara Haines, another co-host, echoed Goldberg’s skepticism. “It’s about transparency,” she said. “If they released who these people were and confirmed they were part of this gang, I think everyone would get on board. But they keep hiding details, and that makes me wary.”

White House Pushes Back

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt swiftly rejected accusations that the administration defied court orders.

“The order, which had no lawful basis, was issued after terrorist TdA aliens had already been removed from U.S. territory,” Leavitt wrote on X. “Federal courts have no jurisdiction over the President’s authority to remove foreign alien terrorists from U.S. soil and repel a declared invasion.”

When asked about the situation on Sunday, President Trump brushed off concerns. “I don’t know. You have to speak to the lawyers about that,” he said. “I can tell you this: these were bad people.”

A History of Hollywood Clashes with Trump

This isn’t the first time Goldberg has clashed with Trump. The Sister Act star has been a vocal critic of the former president since his first term, frequently calling his policies dangerous and divisive. In 2017, she claimed his immigration stance was based on fear-mongering, stating, “This is not about security. It’s about control.”

As for her latest fears of deportation, Goldberg, a U.S. citizen born and raised in New York, would have no legal grounds for removal. However, her comments reflect a broader Hollywood narrative portraying Trump’s immigration policies as overly aggressive.

With the 2024 election in the rearview and Trump back in the White House, the battle between Hollywood elites and the administration shows no signs of cooling down. For now, Goldberg’s remarks have ignited yet another round of political debate on daytime television.

  3. Go get a life Miss whoopee no one is really thinking about you just mad because the Democrats lost move on live with the facts. I’m a black woman who served in the US Marine Corps for about 9 years and I’ve learned to live with a lot of things that I couldn’t change. I can give you a list.

  4. If you\’re so scared, deport yourself, and maybe you could return when you get your sanity back!

I’m pretty certain Whoopi is American born (unfortunately) so she doesn’t qualify for a free ride out of the country. However, most Americans, as well as Trump, appreciate her self deporting!

  7. What happened to her leaving the US on her own? I think she is just a loudmouth bag of wind and has no intention to leave!
