WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan reportedly left young fans devastated after he cut short a meet-and-greet last week, with some children breaking down in tears when they missed their chance to meet the wrestling legend.

The 71-year-old former WWE star was in Orange County, New York, promoting his Real American Beer brand at a local ShopRite. Fans lined up for the event, but some were left disappointed when Hogan suddenly left before meeting everyone.

Robert Taylor, a local father who attended with his son and daughter, described the moment to Hudson Valley’s News 12.

“I was there with my son and daughter. It was an exciting day, especially for my son,” Taylor said. “They said he could only see up to number 200 and we were 185.”

However, before Taylor’s family got their turn, Hogan abruptly left, leaving them empty-handed.

“They just stood up and bolted along the back. Some lady was very upset, screaming and cursing. My son just started crying and a bunch of other kids were crying,” he said.

Taylor criticized Hogan’s exit, arguing that he could have at least walked down the line, shaken hands, or apologized instead of leaving people feeling stranded.

This latest controversy follows a rough reception for Hogan at WWE’s first Raw on Netflix in January, where he was loudly booed by the crowd.

Despite entering to his classic Real American theme song and hyping up his wrestling legacy, fans drowned him out with jeers. His reaction was reportedly one of instant disappointment, with sources suggesting he was shocked by the rejection.

This echoed a similar moment at WrestleMania 37 in 2021, when fans booed him while he co-hosted the event with Titus O’Neil.

Hogan’s strained relationship with WWE fans stems in part from his past controversies. A decade ago, he was fired from WWE after a recording surfaced of him using the N-word, leaked during a sex tape lawsuit against Gawker. WWE reinstated him three years later after he apologized, though the scandal remains a stain on his career.

Last year, Hogan dismissed the controversy as a “speed bump” in his life, but the public reaction suggests that fans haven’t fully moved on.

After the backlash on Raw, insiders say Hogan was caught off guard.

“Did Hulk think he was going to be cheered? That is a resounding yes,” a source told the Mail. “So, when he came out, got booed, and then went to the back after his promo, he was instantly disappointed that the fans turned on him.”

Hogan has blamed the negative reaction on his past as a wrestling villain and his political beliefs. However, other Trump-supporting WWE legends, like The Undertaker, received massive cheers during the same event, leading many to believe that his controversies still play a major role in fan backlash.

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry weighed in on Hogan’s ongoing issues, saying that making amends is entirely up to him.

“It’s on him to do what it takes to have amends with people,” Henry told Metro. “You know, you get in an argument with your wife, what do you gotta do? Apologize and mean it.”

For Hogan, it seems that a simple apology may not be enough to regain the trust of fans who once idolized him.
