President Donald J. Trump appears to have given his now-famous mugshot a place of honor in the White House—a bold statement of resilience and defiance. The framed image was spotted in the background of a photo shared by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his meeting with Trump on Thursday.

Modi, who visited as part of strengthening U.S.-India relations, posted the image to social media, but keen observers quickly noticed the unmistakable portrait on the wall just outside the Oval Office. The unmistakable glare. The set jaw. A president who refuses to back down.

The mugshot was taken on August 24, 2023, when Trump surrendered at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia following what many conservatives call a politically motivated indictment. Instead of a moment of shame, Trump turned it into a rallying cry—his campaign immediately selling merchandise featuring the image. Mugs, shirts, and posters flew off the shelves, embraced by supporters as a symbol of the deep state’s overreach.

A Symbol of Strength?

Conservative commentator Steve Cortes reacted quickly: “President Trump has his mugshot hanging in the White House. Iconic.”

Russia’s state-run news outlet RT even chimed in: “Wait a second: Is President Trump proudly displaying his mugshot in the White House hallway?”

If true, it’s yet another sign that Trump is owning the moment. The official White House portrait released on January 16, 2025, closely mirrors the mugshot—gone is the broad grin from his first term’s portrait. This time, Trump is all business.

Some critics, like former National Security Advisor John Bolton, claim the image is meant to intimidate. “He could have smiled,” Bolton told CNN. “This was deliberate.” But to millions of Trump supporters, the image represents something else: a leader standing firm against relentless opposition.

The Power of the Image

Trump’s mugshot has already gone down in history. No other president has faced such an attack from the establishment—let alone turned it into a badge of honor.

Now, with the photo seemingly displayed in the White House, Trump is making one thing clear: He’s not backing down. He’s doubling down.

    1. Had I been there, I would have told Trump to be LAUGHING at the EVIL CROOKED DEMOCRATS for his picture… not given them the satisfaction of knowing they hurt him… Time now for a lot of Democrats’ mugshots/life imprisonments…

  1. Not surprised Trump is a mean and nasty man we have to defeat this cruel administration every way we can

  2. I have heard this is not true. He did have his image placed on a wall there, but don\’t think it replaced another.
