For decades, Hollywood has leaned left. But Kelsey Grammer, a veteran actor and outspoken conservative, believes a change is underway.
“I think some in the industry decided to close their minds off completely, and they’ll keep them closed. But I see others softening,” Grammer shared in an exclusive interview.
Grammer, best known for his iconic role as Dr. Frasier Crane, has never been shy about his conservative values. For him, conservatism has always represented fairness, logic, and open-mindedness. Now, he thinks others are beginning to see its appeal.
“There’s a great saying in Alcoholics Anonymous: ‘It’s a program of attraction.’ People are drawn to what works. Conservatism is starting to look more attractive because it stands for something real,” he said.
A Country in Need of Integrity
Grammer expressed optimism about the nation’s future under President Donald Trump’s second term.
“I just want America to mean what it says and say what it means. That’s really all I’ve ever wanted,” Grammer stated.
Reflecting on the last four years, he didn’t hold back.
“They were filled with misrepresentation and insincerity. I won’t go so far as to say incompetence, but it wasn’t good. People forgot what public service is truly about—looking after the American people.”
As an example, he pointed to the overwhelming community support for wildfire victims in Los Angeles. “That’s what America is about—helping each other, not playing political games.”
Conservatives in Hollywood: Blackballed or Thriving?
Hollywood has long been a difficult place for openly conservative actors. Some, like Jon Voight and Mel Gibson, have spoken about being blacklisted. Grammer, however, offers a different perspective.
“Jon Voight and I talked about it. He feels we’ve been blackballed, but honestly, I’ve worked the whole time. So has he,” Grammer said. “Are there people who refuse to work with us? Sure. But they can stay narrow-minded if they want.”
One thing did sting, though. With Trump appointing Gibson, Voight, and Sylvester Stallone as Hollywood’s special ambassadors, Grammer had one question:
“Why’d he skip me?” he asked with a laugh.
A Personal Journey: Finding Healing Through Writing
Beyond politics, Grammer has been working on a deeply personal project—a memoir about his sister, Karen, who was tragically murdered in 1975 by serial killer Freddie Glenn.
“This book turned out to be more substantial than I expected. It’s been healing for me, and it introduces Karen to people who never knew her,” Grammer explained.
Titled Karen: A Memoir, the book has already received powerful reactions. “People have told me, ‘This book changed my life.’ That’s why I wrote it,” he said.
What’s Next for Grammer?
While his memoir is a major focus, Grammer is still active in Hollywood. He stars in Wish You Were Here, a romantic drama directed by Julia Stiles.
As for Frasier, he isn’t giving up on his legendary character just yet. “The reboot didn’t work on Paramount+, but we’ll find a home for Frasier somewhere,” he said confidently.
At 69, Grammer juggles his career with fatherhood. He and his wife, Kayte Walsh, have three young children, and he’s also a father to four older children.
“There’s a lot going on,” he admitted with a chuckle. “But that’s life, and I love it.”
Final Thoughts
Hollywood may never fully embrace conservatism, but Grammer sees a shift. “People want something real. Conservatism, at its core, is about honesty and service. And that’s looking more attractive every day.”

More attractive ? Are you an idiot? He’s already making a fool of himself and anyone that voted for him.
Like Reagan said, Hollywood didn’t change and leave, the Democrats WENT too far criminally/murderously LEFT for everyone!
Judy, most terminally ignorant attempt to conceal that malady. Based on your statement, you’re an exception.
If you want to see “…an idiot…”, look in a mirror.
If you want to see “…an idiot…’, look in a mirror!
If you want to see a “…fool…”, look in a mirror.
Hollywood, Hypocrites.
