Fox News personalities took aim at former First Lady Laura Bush on Sunday, accusing her of snubbing President-elect Donald Trump during former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral. The alleged slight occurred Thursday, when Bush was seen avoiding a handshake with Trump as he passed by her pew.

Rachel Campos-Duffy, host of Fox & Friends, was quick to juxtapose Bush’s demeanor with what she described as Melania Trump’s “dignified” presence. “It’s worth noting that this was the one-year anniversary of Melania’s mother’s passing,” Campos-Duffy said. “And yet, there she was, honoring President Carter with such grace. It speaks volumes about her character.”

Shifting gears, Campos-Duffy criticized Laura Bush. “And then, let’s give the grumpiest award to Laura Bush,” she quipped. “She just looked so sour sitting there.”

Fellow host Charles Hurt piled on, adding, “Not as grumpy as Michelle Obama.”

“Well, Michelle didn’t even show up,” Campos-Duffy shot back.

The funeral was also notable for an unexpected reunion between President-elect Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence. Since 2021, tensions between the two have been public, fueled by Trump’s ongoing claims that Pence could have overturned the 2020 election results.

According to sources present, Pence congratulated Trump on his recent election victory. Witnesses reported that the two exchanged a brief handshake and polite words, marking their first public interaction in years.

Trump, known for his often bombastic remarks, appeared to set aside past grievances in the moment. “Mike, thank you,” he reportedly said.

Jimmy Carter’s funeral brought together an array of political figures spanning decades. Carter, who passed away at age 100, was celebrated for his commitment to public service and his post-presidential humanitarian efforts.

However, the event also highlighted deep divisions in the Republican Party. Trump’s reemergence as the party’s leader has reignited debates over loyalty, decorum, and the future of conservative leadership.

For many viewers, the ceremony and its surrounding drama encapsulated a broader shift in American politics. “Funerals like this remind us how quickly traditions change,” said Dr. Richard Langston, a historian at Georgetown University. “In past decades, these events symbolized unity. Now, even here, partisanship creeps in.”

One attendee, a Carter family friend who asked to remain anonymous, expressed dismay at the political undertones. “President Carter believed in kindness and respect. He would’ve hated to see the focus shift to snubs and grudges.”

As Americans continue to reflect on Carter’s legacy, the nation’s political future looms large. Will moments of unity ever truly return, or has the era of division become the new normal?

  1. Good for George and Laura Bush I’d have done the same thing, Who the hell does Trump think he is a good guy? 34 counts and convicted felon? He’s bad news for our country and evil! Wait and you shall see!

  2. 1. I’m thinking you are out of line George and family live in Texas where there are oil wells etc Our Country had nothing to do with 9/11 Mr. Bush was and is still a man he is a man of God and country, good honest husband with the fear of God. He has morals like others do not have. To say dishonest words is truly sinful!

  3. You split hairs in this article focusing on Republican slights. The most noticeable tension was clearly between Biden and Harris / Mr Harris. Not a single mention of this “clear cold shoulder” and the obvious rift between the current President and his VIce President. Clearly this is newsworthy yet not a mention in your piece.
    Fair and balanced??

  4. The Bush are decent people. I admire them for what and who they are. Trump has criticized them, so why should they shake Trump’s hand? Never!!

  5. So what. Laura bush didn’t shake hands with Trump, and as for Melania, she just looked like she was in the middle of a big sulk, not taking any interest in the proceedings what so ever. Just like normal. Many people didn’t shake Trumps hand. You should be spending more time contemplating the fact that you now have a felon in charge of the country.

  6. Very Sad !I would think she as others would not make a smirk …just be quiet!Sent from Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
