Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing a fresh round of marriage speculation just weeks after moving their family back to Britain, with a new report claiming the Duchess of Sussex has considered leaving their home with the couple’s two children and staying at a private hotel.
The dramatic allegations come less than two months after Harry and Meghan returned to the U.K. with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, following six years based primarily in California.
RadarOnline, citing an unnamed source, claimed Meghan has become increasingly concerned about her family’s security and has discussed the possibility of temporarily relocating with the children to a “secure and discreet” hotel.
The source went even further, alleging Meghan had spoken with lawyers while tensions inside the Sussex household continued to build.
There has been no public confirmation from Harry or Meghan that they are separating, and neither has announced plans to end their marriage.
In fact, the couple have continued to appear together publicly since arriving in Britain. Harry and Meghan were spotted enjoying lunch together at the Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds on October 2, where witnesses said they were treated like any other customers.
Meghan was also seen in London this week meeting Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s hotel.
Still, their move back to Britain has already produced several unexpected headaches.
Archie and Lilibet switched schools only two days after beginning classes in September. A representative for the family said the decision followed concerns raised by their security team over transportation, traffic and the distance between the school and the family’s residence.
The change was not related to the school itself, according to the family’s spokesperson.
Security has remained one of Harry’s biggest concerns since he and Meghan stepped away from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.
Harry has spent years challenging decisions surrounding his police protection while in Britain. The Sussexes currently remain non-working members of the royal family and do not automatically receive the same publicly funded security arrangements available to some senior royals.
The dispute has taken on greater importance now that Harry, Meghan and their children are spending extended time in the U.K.
RadarOnline’s latest report claims those pressures are now spilling into the couple’s marriage.
One unnamed source alleged that Meghan “didn’t even want to be in the U.K. to begin with” and claimed Harry was blindsided by the possibility that she might leave their residence for a hotel.
The outlet has also previously published claims that Harry had become involved with another woman in California and that Meghan discovered suspicious text messages.
No evidence supporting an affair has been made public, and Harry has not confirmed such a relationship.
Those allegations are especially difficult to square with some of Harry’s recent comments about family life.
In a newly released MasterClass program on grief and resilience, Harry revealed that he tries never to spend more than 10 days away from Meghan and their children because remaining close to his family is important to him.
That does not prove everything is trouble-free behind closed doors, but it provides important context as speculation about the Sussex marriage continues to circulate.
Meanwhile, Harry has publicly discussed another difficult chapter of his life.
In the same program, the prince said he experienced depression in 2019 while he and Meghan were considering their future within the royal family. He described struggling emotionally after years of suppressing feelings connected in part to the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
Harry and Meghan ultimately stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and relocated to North America.
Their return to Britain in August 2026 marked one of the biggest changes for the family since that departure.
Reports at the time said the couple wanted Archie and Lilibet to experience more of their father’s British roots while maintaining ties to their California home.
The children’s abrupt school change, however, quickly demonstrated how complicated that arrangement could become.
The latest anonymous claims suggest those challenges may be creating friction between Harry and Meghan, but the strongest allegation — that Meghan is preparing to leave her husband — remains unverified.
For now, the Sussexes continue to be seen together publicly while managing their children, security arrangements and professional commitments in Britain.
Whether the reported hotel plan represents a genuine marital crisis, a temporary security contingency or simply another round of royal rumor remains unclear.
