Kai Trump is getting dragged online after critics accused her of trying to rewrite the soundtrack to her grandfather’s NBA Finals appearance.

The 20-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump posted a video from inside Madison Square Garden after attending Game 3 of the NBA Finals with him. But instead of the loud boos that several other clips from the arena appeared to capture, Kai’s version seemed to show a much warmer reaction.

That was all it took for social media to pounce.

Kai shared the footage showing Trump appearing on the arena screens as the crowd reacted. She captioned the post, “Thank you to 15SOF for capturing this special moment with my Grandpa.”

But viewers quickly began comparing her clip to other videos circulating online from fans who were inside the Garden. Those clips appeared to capture the president being met with heavy boos from the crowd.

Kai’s version, critics claimed, sounded noticeably different.

“Changing the audio is wild though,” one commenter wrote.

Another bluntly added, “That’s embarrassing changing the audio.”

Others were even harsher, accusing Kai of helping spin an awkward public moment into something more flattering for the president.

“Following in her family’s lying ways. They must be so proud,” one critic fumed. “The boos rocked the foundation of the Garden.”

Neither Kai nor the White House publicly responded to the audio accusations.

The online pile-on did not stop there. Some users also zoomed in on Kai’s reaction during the moment, with viewers debating whether she appeared amused as the crowd responded to her grandfather.

“Kai Trump wasn’t forced to stand for the anthem — she was already standing,” one commenter wrote. “And if you look closely, she was smiling when everyone booed.”

It remains unclear what Trump himself heard inside the arena, but the moment quickly became one of the most talked-about parts of his NBA Finals appearance.

The controversy had already started before Trump even arrived at Madison Square Garden.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter blasted his decision to attend the game, arguing that a presidential visit would create headaches for fans, law enforcement and everyone trying to get in and out of the arena.

“Of all the selfish, narcissistic things Trump has done, attending MSG to see the Knicks play in person Monday night is the absolute worst,” Coulter wrote on X.

She claimed the visit would force thousands of people to deal with added security, traffic delays and a heavier police presence, adding that presidents should be willing to “sacrifice once in awhile.”

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also said he would have preferred Trump stay away from the game, though he insisted his objection was not political.

“He’s coming to Game 3 of the Finals, and I don’t want him there,” Smith said. “It has nothing to do with politics, policy, or anything like that.”

“It has everything to do with him disrupting and contributing at the same time to the chaos that’s going to be existing at Madison Square Garden,” he added.

But after the game, it was Kai’s video — and the mystery over what the crowd really sounded like — that lit up the internet.

For critics, the clip was not just another viral sports moment. It became another political flashpoint, with Trump’s granddaughter accused of trying to turn a rough reception into a victory lap.
