Fresh off his 2024 presidential election victory, President-elect Donald Trump took time Sunday to bond with his granddaughters, Kai Trump, 17, and Chloe Trump, 10, for an afternoon of golf at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The outing quickly drew attention as Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk made a surprise appearance, sparking even more buzz.

Kai shared glimpses of the afternoon on X (formerly Twitter), posting heartwarming images alongside the 78-year-old Trump. “Sundays with Grandpa 💛,” she wrote, attaching a candid photo of herself and Chloe smiling with their grandfather. The president-elect sported a white “Make America Great Again” polo shirt, matching his iconic hat that proudly displayed the same slogan. Kai and Chloe coordinated in classic golf attire, complete with crisp white sneakers.

Adding to the spectacle was Elon Musk, who joined the family on the greens with his four-year-old son, X Æ A-12. In a lighter moment, Kai humorously hinted at Musk’s growing bond with the family, writing, “Elon achieving uncle status 😂,” under a snapshot of the tech mogul, who was oddly dressed in a formal black suit despite the relaxed golfing scene. Musk’s son added his own playful flair, holding a golf ball up to his eye.

Though Kai and Chloe’s three other siblings didn’t join the outing, the afternoon served as a reminder of the close family ties Donald Trump Jr. has fostered, raising five children with his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump. It’s a legacy the younger Trumps are proud of, even as they each begin carving their own paths.

This golf outing comes on the heels of a historic electoral showdown that saw Trump defeat Vice President Kamala Harris, returning him to the White House for a second term. On Wednesday, an exuberant Kai expressed her joy on social media, lauding her grandfather’s work ethic and dedication. “No one works harder or cares more about the American people,” she wrote. “Congratulations, Grandpa, I love you!”

The Trump family’s affinity for golf is no secret, and the sport holds a special place in their hearts. Earlier this year, Kai made headlines with her verbal commitment to the University of Miami’s golf team, a milestone she celebrated with an Instagram post. “I am beyond excited,” she shared on August 18, thanking her parents, Don and Vanessa, and paying tribute to her grandfather for the support and access to world-class courses.

As Trump readies himself for the weight of office once more, moments like these offer a glimpse into his enduring focus on family—a core pillar of his values that his supporters often admire. And for the conservative faithful, the sight of Trump on the course, sharing laughs with Musk and embracing his role as “Grandpa,” is more than just a photo op. It’s a testament to a legacy that intertwines personal warmth with unyielding political resolve.
