A young flight instructor’s dream career ended in tragedy when his small plane plunged into a residential area in Italy, killing him instantly and leaving his teenage student badly injured and screaming from the wreckage.

Daniel Taino, a 26-year-old pilot, was giving a flying lesson on Monday when the two-seat Cessna 152 suddenly lost altitude in Valbrembo, a town in northern Italy. The aircraft reportedly clipped a utility pole before slamming into the ground on a street, turning an ordinary afternoon into a nightmare.

Taino died at the scene. His 19-year-old student was pulled from the mangled wreckage in critical condition and rushed to Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, according to local reports.

A gardener working nearby witnessed the terrifying final moments.

He told local newspaper L’Eco Di Bergamo that he was trimming hedges when he saw the small plane dropping fast from the sky. Seconds later, it hit a power pole and crashed just about 20 yards away from him.

What followed was even more haunting.

The gardener said he could hear the injured teenage student screaming from inside the wreckage.

“I tried to provide first aid to the injured man, who was screaming and flailing about,” he said in Italian. “The ambulance arrived within minutes, however, and as soon as the paramedics began to intervene, I obviously stepped aside.”

Emergency crews raced to the scene, but there was nothing they could do to save Taino.

The young instructor’s grieving family, including his parents and siblings, rushed to the crash site after learning of the disaster. His mother, Debora, reportedly broke down in tears as she was held by her husband, Carlo, near the wreckage where their son had been pronounced dead.

Students and staff from Cantor Air, the flight school where Taino worked, also gathered at the emotional scene.

Taino had reportedly been working as a flight instructor for only five months, chasing a childhood dream of flying. That dream was cut short in one shocking moment.

According to reports, Taino and the student pilot had taken off to practice touch-and-go maneuvers over the River Brembo when the aircraft began to lose altitude.

Officials are still investigating what caused the deadly crash. Early reports suggest the plane may have suffered engine failure before it struck the utility pole and went down.

The crash has left the local aviation community stunned, with friends, relatives, and fellow pilots mourning a young instructor whose life and career were just beginning.
