What started as a slow exit from a McDonald’s drive-thru reportedly exploded into a terrifying road rage attack in Indiana after one woman allegedly reached into another driver’s car and grabbed her by the throat in the middle of traffic.

Police in Evansville say the disturbing confrontation unfolded Thursday morning near North Burkhardt Road and the Lloyd Expressway, where a routine fast-food run allegedly spiraled into chaos over how slowly a driver pulled out of the parking lot.

According to investigators, the victim told police she was carefully leaving the McDonald’s drive-thru because she did not want the underside of her vehicle scraping against the pavement. But the driver behind her allegedly became furious and started honking aggressively.

That driver was later identified as 33-year-old Tiffany Lee.

Authorities say the tension did not stop once both women pulled onto the roadway. The victim claimed Lee continued honking and yelling as they drove southbound on Burkhardt Road toward the Lloyd Expressway.

Things allegedly turned violent once traffic came to a stop at a red light.

Police say Lee got out of her vehicle, walked up to the victim’s driver-side window, and allegedly reached inside the car before grabbing the woman by the neck while screaming at her.

The victim reportedly told officers she panicked and tried to protect herself by rolling up the window. As the glass moved upward, Lee’s arms allegedly became trapped between the window and the door frame before she managed to yank herself free.

Investigators say Lee then allegedly started pounding on the closed window before finally returning to her own vehicle and speeding away westbound on the Lloyd Expressway.

The shocking encounter is yet another reminder of how quickly ordinary road frustrations can allegedly turn dangerous.

What makes the case especially unsettling is how minor the original dispute reportedly was. There was no crash, no dangerous high-speed chase, and no reckless swerving — just anger over a driver leaving a parking lot too slowly.

Police say the victim managed to snap a photo of Lee and her vehicle during the confrontation, which investigators later used to identify her through Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles records.

Authorities also reportedly discovered Lee’s driver’s license had already been suspended before the incident, leading to an additional charge.

Lee was later booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges including strangulation, disorderly conduct, and driving while suspended. Jail records reportedly listed her bond status as “no bond” at the time of booking.

As with all criminal cases, Lee is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Incidents like this have become increasingly common across the country as road rage cases continue making headlines. Traffic safety experts regularly warn drivers not to engage with angry motorists because even simple exchanges of honking, yelling, or gestures can escalate without warning.

And in today’s world, many of these confrontations are no longer happening unseen. Between dash cams, surveillance systems, traffic cameras, and cell phone photos, more drivers are finding themselves caught on camera during moments they probably never expected would end with police involvement.
