A carefree night by the water turned into sheer panic when gunfire erupted at a crowded lake party in Edmond, leaving at least 13 people injured and authorities scrambling for answers.
According to police, the violence broke out late Sunday near Lake Arcadia, where a large group of young people had gathered for what was supposed to be a fun night. Instead, witnesses say the scene quickly descended into chaos as shots rang out, sending partygoers running for cover.
Investigators revealed that multiple suspects — reportedly wearing ski masks — opened fire before fleeing the area. As of now, they remain on the loose, raising fears that more violence could follow.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, treating victims with a range of injuries. While officials have not released detailed conditions for all those hurt, the sheer number of victims has shaken the community.
Police quickly blocked off roads near South Air Depot Boulevard as they launched a manhunt and began piecing together what led to the attack. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The shooting is just the latest in a disturbing trend of violence tied to youth gatherings across the country — events that are increasingly ending in gunfire instead of memories.
Local residents say enough is enough.
“This is supposed to be a place where families and kids come to relax,” one neighbor said. “Now people are afraid to even go out.”
As the investigation continues, one question looms large: how many more nights like this will it take before something changes?
