Shock as French film star Nadia Fares has died at 57 after a sudden and terrifying incident in a swimming pool left fans around the world reeling.
The beloved actress — known for her roles in The Crimson Rivers and the action flick War — was reportedly found unresponsive in a gym pool in Paris on April 11. What began as a routine swim quickly turned into a life-or-death emergency when she suddenly lost consciousness in the water.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital and placed into a medically induced coma as doctors fought to save her life. Tragically, the battle ended days later.
Her devastated daughters confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement, saying France has lost “a great artist,” while they mourn the loss of “above all, a mother.”
The shocking death has sent waves through the entertainment world, especially given that Fares had no signs of slowing down. She was reportedly gearing up for a major return to the spotlight — set to write, direct, and star in an upcoming action-comedy later this year.
Fares first rose to international fame in the early 2000s, starring in director Mathieu Kassovitz’s gritty crime thriller The Crimson Rivers, based on the bestselling novel by Jean-Christophe Grangé. She later crossed over into Hollywood, appearing alongside Jet Li and Jason Statham in the high-octane action scene.
Now, tributes are pouring in as fans and colleagues remember a fearless performer whose career spanned continents — and whose life was cut short in a sudden, tragic moment.
In a gut-wrenching Instagram post, her daughter Cylia Chasman wrote, “Mama. This is a heartbreak I will never get over… Every day I wake up and pray this is a nightmare.”
The circumstances surrounding her collapse remain unclear, leaving many stunned by how quickly everything unfolded — turning an ordinary day at the pool into an unimaginable tragedy.
