Even from beyond the grave, Queen Elizabeth II’s no-nonsense approach to family drama is casting a long shadow over the royal family’s most bitter feud.

As Prince Harry and Prince William remain locked in a years-long fallout, palace insiders say the late monarch had a clear strategy if she were still alive today — and it wasn’t about picking favorites.

“She believed you might have views, but you don’t have sides,” a source close to the palace revealed, offering a rare glimpse into how Queen Elizabeth II handled the growing rift between her grandsons.

In other words — stay neutral, stay connected, and never let the drama go public.

That was easier said than done.

The feud between Prince William, 43, and Prince Harry, 41, has been simmering for nearly a decade, with tensions reportedly igniting in 2016 when William questioned how quickly Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle was moving.

From there, things spiraled.

Harry and Meghan’s 2020 royal exit, their bombshell interviews, a Netflix docuseries, and Harry’s headline-grabbing memoir Spare only poured gasoline on the fire — turning a private sibling dispute into a global spectacle.

In the book, Harry didn’t hold back, calling William his “beloved brother and arch nemesis” and detailing explosive arguments — including an alleged physical altercation.

Behind palace walls, the fallout was just as intense.

Royal author Russell Myers has claimed William was “absolutely seething” over what he saw as betrayal, at one point vowing never to speak to Harry again and telling aides he had no interest in engaging with either Harry or Meghan.

Still, there were attempts — quiet ones — to keep the lines open.

Sources say the Queen continued to stay in touch with both grandsons, even as their relationship fractured, refusing to be drawn into the conflict.

“She saw both of them,” the insider said. “She understood this wasn’t something you fix overnight.”

Former royal press secretary Ailsa Anderson echoed the reality check: no amount of royal intervention can force a reconciliation.

“The only two people who can mend this are themselves,” she said.

There are faint signs of movement elsewhere in the family.

Harry has reportedly been in more frequent contact with his father, King Charles III, following a reunion in 2025 — a small but notable thaw after years of tension.

But when it comes to William, the freeze appears far from over.

Those close to the palace say Catherine, Princess of Wales has played a key role in keeping William grounded, often reminding him to focus on family and the bigger picture as emotions run high.

As the royal family approaches what would have been the Queen’s 100th birthday, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: her steady, behind-the-scenes diplomacy is sorely missed.

And without it, the House of Windsor is left navigating one of its most personal — and public — crises yet.
