George Clooney has shocked fans with an unexpected confession about his wild days in Hollywood — and let’s just say, the Oscar winner’s clean-cut image wasn’t always so squeaky.
In a candid chat, the 64-year-old actor admitted to dabbling in cocaine back in the early 1980s. “Eighty-two, I tried — I did blow and stuff,” Clooney revealed, adding that while he joked for years about drug use, it was “never a big issue” for him.
At the time, Clooney said, cocaine didn’t carry the same terrifying reputation it does today. “There was an episode of Taxi where they’re all doing blow. It was like, ‘This isn’t like heroin — it’s not addictive,’” he recalled. “But then you find out it’s actually pretty f*ing bad. Plus, it was all cut with mannitol — the baby laxative. Everybody would do a line and then take a st.”
Clooney also opened up about his more recent “dumbass drunk” moment, laughing as he remembered getting “blasted” after losing out on several Broadway awards for Good Night, and Good Luck. “I came home with Amal and I was just laughing,” he said. “I caught up for all my abstinence in one night. I was sick all day the next day — it was hysterical.”
Though the Hollywood icon insists drugs were never a major part of his life, his rare honesty about experimenting in his youth gives fans a glimpse at the man behind the charm — and the hangovers.
