George and Amal Clooney’s fairy-tale marriage might be on its last leg after a shocking confession from the Hollywood icon left his wife “furious,” sources tell insiders.

The Oscar-winning actor, 64, revealed in Esquire that after the Tony Awards in June, he “caught up for all his abstinence in one night” and ended up “like a high school drunk.” Fans may have laughed it off — but Amal wasn’t amused.

“Amal has drawn a firm line,” a close friend revealed. “She told George that his drinking isn’t something she can just overlook anymore. She admired how hard he worked to stay sober, but bragging about getting ‘dumb drunk’ really upset her.”

The Golden Couple Cracks

Married since 2014, George and Amal have always seemed like Hollywood’s most grounded power couple. But friends say cracks have been showing for months — and this latest “boozy relapse” might be their biggest test yet.

Amal, 47, reportedly sees George’s casual attitude toward drinking as “a slippery slope.” Another source added, “He’s joked about it, but Amal doesn’t find it funny. She’s told him straight — if he slides back into old habits, he could lose everything.”

Party Boy vs. Perfectionist

George’s love of a good drink is nothing new. He’s long joked about his wild nights out — once admitting he even showed up drunk on set in the ’90s. But Amal, a world-renowned human rights lawyer and mother of twins Ella and Alexander, isn’t in that world anymore.

“She’s serious, structured, and focused on their kids,” an insider explained. “George’s charm and humor used to be part of what she loved, but now it just feels careless. The last thing Amal wants is chaos in their family.”

Trouble in Paradise

The couple recently escaped to their $8.3 million retreat in Provence, hoping to reset away from Hollywood’s spotlight. But instead of healing, friends say tension has only grown.

“George brushes it off as a one-time mistake,” said a longtime associate. “But Amal isn’t so sure. She’s told him she won’t stand by and watch him drift back into his old party ways.”

Now, as George preps for his next big film — an adaptation of In Love — Amal’s reportedly “keeping a close eye” on her husband.

“She still loves him deeply,” a friend shared, “but she’s not about to let their hard-earned stability fall apart because of something as preventable as drinking.”
