Hollywood icon George Clooney has been quietly fighting a string of serious health problems — and his latest one just stopped him in his tracks.

The 64-year-old Oscar winner abruptly canceled his Venice Film Festival appearance this week after being struck down with what insiders describe as a “brutal sinus infection.”

Clooney had been set to promote his new Noah Baumbach film Jay Kelly and walk the red carpet alongside his co-stars — but doctors reportedly ordered him to rest immediately.

“He was really knocked down by the infection,” a close source told Radar. “Doctors told him to stop completely for a few days. He’s been going at full speed, and it finally took its toll.”

Festival moderators confirmed his absence, saying, “I’m afraid George Clooney is not going to be here because he has a bad, serious sinus infection. We hope he’ll be on the red carpet tonight.”

But the sudden cancellation has reignited concern among fans and friends — because it’s far from the first time Clooney’s health has taken a frightening turn.

Clooney’s health struggles date back nearly two decades. While filming Syriana in 2005, the actor suffered a devastating spinal injury after a chair tipped backward, tearing the dura mater — the membrane surrounding the spinal cord.

The pain was so severe that he later admitted he contemplated whether he could “exist like this.”

“I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move,” Clooney once said. “It feels like you’re having a stroke.”

Friends say the trauma of that accident never truly left him. “He still deals with pain every single day,” one longtime associate shared. “He stays upbeat in public, but it’s something he’s learned to live with.”

Just as he regained his footing, disaster struck again. In 2018, Clooney was thrown from his motorcycle while speeding to a film set in Sardinia at around 120 km/h.

“I launched. I went head over heels,” he recalled. “If you did it 100 times, maybe once you land okay — any other version, you’re toast.”

The impact shattered the car’s windshield, leaving Clooney drenched in glass. “I thought my teeth were gone — turns out it was glass from the crash,” he said later.

Two years later, Clooney required neck surgery to fix lingering damage from the accident.

Then came 2020 — and another terrifying health blow. While filming The Midnight Sky, Clooney lost over two stone for the role and ended up hospitalized with pancreatitis.

“I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and wasn’t taking care of myself,” he admitted. “It took a few weeks to get better, and as a director, that’s not so easy.”

Recently spotted leaving Venice with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, 47, George is said to be recovering quietly and reflecting on how far he’s pushed his body.

“He’s faced more than his fair share of health issues,” a source said. “Each one has taken its toll, but in true George fashion, he keeps moving forward.”
