Donald Trump is preparing for what could be one of the most dramatic returns to network television in modern political history. According to insiders, the president is in active talks with CBS News for a primetime appearance on 60 Minutes — just months after crushing the network in court and walking away with a $16 million settlement.

The potential sit-down, reportedly with veteran correspondent Bill Whitaker, has been described as “tense negotiations” that hinge on one non-negotiable White House demand: the entire interview must air unedited.

“President Trump is not about to let the media play games with him again,” a senior aide told reporters. “If CBS wants him, they’ll have to give America the full story, no cuts, no tricks.”

The move comes on the heels of Trump’s legal victory over CBS and its parent company, Paramount. Last summer, Trump accused the network of deceptively editing an interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020 — a broadcast he branded “blatant election interference.”

While CBS denied wrongdoing, Paramount’s leadership quietly pushed for a settlement amid its high-stakes merger talks. The $16 million payout was a symbolic win for Trump, who immediately touted it as proof of what he calls the “mainstream media’s corruption.”

“CBS knew they were caught red-handed,” Trump boasted at a rally in Ohio after the deal was finalized. “They didn’t want a jury to hear the truth — so they paid up.”

As part of the settlement, CBS agreed to release full transcripts for all future presidential interviews, a condition Trump’s camp considers a permanent safeguard against “media manipulation.”

Despite his bruising battle with the network, Trump reportedly sees 60 Minutes as a prize stage for reaching millions of skeptical voters ahead of the 2026 midterms. White House staff even tried to line up a taping last month during Trump’s trip to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, but scheduling conflicts forced a delay.

“He wants the biggest stage possible,” said one Republican strategist. “Like it or not, 60 Minutes is still the Super Bowl of political interviews.”

At the same time, Trump is waging a very different media battle — this one against Comedy Central’s South Park.

The satirical series, which has relentlessly mocked Trump throughout his political career, aired a recent episode depicting the president in the nude with a talking body part. Sources say Trump exploded behind the scenes.

“He’s furious, absolutely livid,” a White House insider confirmed. “He thinks it’s vulgar, beneath the dignity of the presidency, and frankly, he’s determined to get the show canceled.”

Trump allies privately point to the abrupt cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year as a warning shot. “No one’s laughing anymore,” one confidant claimed. “These late-night clowns and cartoon hacks better watch their step.”

For CBS, agreeing to Trump’s terms could mean blockbuster ratings — and more controversy. For Trump, the interview would be a chance to prove, on live television, that he can command the conversation on his terms.

“Donald Trump never walks into a room unless he knows he can win,” longtime ally Roger Stone said. “And if he does this interview, you better believe he’ll come out on top.”

Whether America sees the full, unedited Trump hour remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the battle between the president and the press is far from over.
