Josh Hartnett was rushed to the hospital after being caught in a late-night crash with a police vehicle in Newfoundland, Canada, where he’s been filming his latest Netflix series.

Authorities confirmed the accident happened just before 1 a.m. on Thursday in St. Johns, when the SUV carrying the Oppenheimer actor collided with a patrol car. Both vehicles were left with significant damage.

Police said the 47-year-old passenger, later identified as Hartnett, and the 59-year-old driver were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. After treatment, Hartnett was released and has since returned to work on set.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the collision, which sent shockwaves through the quiet filming location. Witnesses said it was fortunate that the crash did not result in more serious injuries.

Hartnett, who rose to fame in the early 2000s and has recently reemerged in high-profile projects like Oppenheimer, Black Mirror and The Bear, had just started filming a six-episode thriller about a sea creature terrorizing a small fishing town. The limited series also stars Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton and Lockwood & Co.’s Ruby Stokes.

For now, Hartnett is back on set and recovering, but the frightening crash has left fans shaken. The incident is a reminder of just how quickly real-life drama can interrupt Hollywood’s biggest comebacks.
