Buffalo Bills fans held their breath Sunday when superstar quarterback Josh Allen left the field in the first quarter with what looked like a nasty broken nose.
The reigning NFL MVP went down hard after being tackled by Jets defender Jowon Briggs while scrambling for a first down. In the collision, Allen’s face smashed directly into teammate O’Cyrus Torrence — leaving him bloodied and staggering.

Allen shot to his feet but sprinted straight to the sideline, clutching his face as blood poured from his nose. Sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson described the gruesome scene on CBS, saying, “He came out holding underneath his nose and was bleeding profusely. A team of doctors surrounded him trying to quell the bleeding. They finally added some cotton into that nostril.”
Fans online were convinced they had just witnessed the Bills’ worst nightmare. One wrote, “Josh Allen just 100 percent broke his nose and immediately asked for them to snap it back straight. Football guy.” Another joked that Tony Romo had all of western New York “hyperventilating” by speculating live that Allen’s injury was serious.
After several tense minutes, Mitch Trubisky briefly took over under center while trainers worked to stop the bleeding. But in true tough-guy fashion, Allen returned to the game with a plug jammed up his nostril to keep the blood in check.
At the time of his return, the Bills were already up 10-0 over the Jets at MetLife Stadium — but the sight of their franchise QB covered in blood was enough to make fans queasy.
