Dave Franco may have just talked his way out of a Disney career.
The actor, 40, is reportedly banned for life from working with Disney after revealing on a podcast that he once had sex on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. His eyebrow-raising confession came during an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, and insiders say Disney execs were not amused.
Franco, who’s married to GLOW star Alison Brie, dropped the scandalous story while chatting with host Alex Cooper.
“Something may have happened at one point on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride,” he teased. “The f—– up part about that is, I think there’s cameras on every inch of that place, but we were pretty covert. We’ll leave it at that.”
It wasn’t exactly subtle — and it’s reportedly landed Franco on Disney’s permanent blacklist.
According to industry sources quoted by RadarOnline.com, Disney bosses were “furious” over the remarks, which they saw as completely inappropriate given the company’s family-friendly image.
“Dave should have known better,” one insider said. “Talking about his antics at Disneyland was a terrible move. He’s now persona non grata — totally frozen out from future streaming shows and blockbuster films. And he can forget about ever appearing in a Pirates sequel.”
Although Franco hasn’t previously had a major connection to Disney, sources say this incident has shut the door on any possible collaborations.
Franco’s comments sparked buzz online, with fans joking about the ride’s “yo-ho” reputation — but the entertainment world isn’t laughing. With Disney’s strict branding around family values, even a racy offhand comment can be enough to ruin career opportunities.
One Hollywood publicist put it simply: “Studios are watching everything right now. If you cross a line — even with a joke — it can haunt you.”
Despite the drama, Franco has stayed busy. He’s been promoting his latest project, Together, a supernatural horror film where he stars opposite wife Alison Brie. The couple, who married in 2017 after five years of dating, frequently collaborate on writing, directing, and acting gigs.
Speaking to Collider earlier this year, Brie explained their creative chemistry: “We’ve been together over a decade. Our shorthand is so tight now it’s like a mind-meld. We don’t take on just any project — it has to make sense.”
Franco also opened up about his mixed feelings on media attention: “I’m generally a private person, which makes doing promo a little strange. But I’ve gotten better at embracing that part of the job.”
Whether this controversy blows over or permanently sidelines him from the Mouse House remains to be seen. But for now, it sounds like Disney won’t be extending any magical invitations Franco’s way.
Stay tuned — because in Hollywood, even a podcast overshare can turn into a full-blown career detour.
